Been reading this thread for quite sometime(6 months edi)

Would like some assistance recommending bike shop to purchase Pulsar 180

Not sure why I cant find less then $2000 Pulsar anymore

used to have a lot few months back.

Please recommend me or...if u planning to sell your Pulsar to me also can

I'm not a pulsar rider but was hunting for one previously.

Best survey the shops at bukit merah or find online to get a pulsar.

so if the question of "what if" plays in our mind.. then the same thing "what if" after the full overhauled??? ... does that come to the same theory? sigh

 

so mind sharing when is the best time to do overhauling? ... OR

how to know if something worn out ?? .. its inside the engine!!

hmm wait for unwanted sound in the engine like most people said???? ...

 

last time when speedaddict got his UG2, there is unwanted sound in the engine and the owner told him that it's normal cos he also when got the bike got the sound... so after few days of riding the sound became louder and no choice had to send to um to rectify .... then the big shock came broken parts with all the ball bearings scattered in the engine!! ... he's one damn 'lucky' guy!! ... bike just bought but need to have almost full overhauling ..damaged $1k+

 

Full overhaul the labour only is already $400+ (almost same like s4) and with min damage from $800 to $1K plus !!!

 

but let say

 

for doing regasket if sign of leakage is just $35 only .. labour + cap camshaft + O ring. ...

 

Once opened for regasket, here at least we can see most parts on the top side of any wear.

 

If any sign of wear than top overhaul needed to check the piston, valves and timing chain. If all maintain good then just do the servicing without any changing of parts.

 

For top overhaul as manual guidelines at 40000 km at least like mine it takes almost 3 years, so after doing all the check ups and change the wear parts .. it like i have a new engine. Anyway for mine .. only the valves, timing chain and chain tensioner need to be changed ..for my piston and the rings are still in good condition!.. hehehe

 

 

anyway end of the day .. like alvin stated .. it's own preference lah but please do not blame the bike if need to overhaul and change broken parts like most riders when they visited UM.... hmmmmm we just shook head whenever there is a rider came to UM and complained pulsar engine NO GOOD without looking at his attitude to maintain the bike!! ...

Hmm, interesting point. I was thinking that top overhaul is needed when you can make out some tell tale signs like FC going up, engine getting rough or drinking EO or white smoke from exhaust etc. But if engine is running fine and you do an Top overhaul, then the mechanic should really be competent and to identify the faulty parts and replace them. Luckily, we have Ah Teck and so we are confident about it. But imagine without him, would you risk doing an expensive top overhaul, when everything is running fine? Kekeke

Need to go LAB soon find cheapo handlebar brace just to mount some random stuff like a spare waterproof watch and camera etc..

Bought rs959 for $80 and Motero gloves $25.

 

Fiddy came along but didn't get his mirrors.

 

Voltmeter I asked, was $38. Not worth as HTH was selling $40 include installation.
