I received today a warrant of arrest from LTA for not showing up in court.

 

I have no idea where this comes from, I didn't receive any letter before. It says I was expected in court on September 1st to answer charges. It doesn't say which charges.

 

I was overseas from July to mid November so this is a complete mystery. I called LTA but the warrants services are closed today.

 

Is it possible that this would be an ERP or whatever fine I didn't see/receive before leaving and now it has gotten to this stage?

 

I checked my road tax, season parking and fines online: I have nothing outstanding. But if it's say an ERP charge, is it possible that it's not showing as outstanding now because it's already in court?

 

This is really scary.. And I am sure they didn't properly contact me about it as I never received any letters before this one!

 

I'll go there myself on Monday but I wanted to check with you guys and see if anyone has gone through this before?

Nothing i hear of. Don't worry just call them up and ask the next working day and bring along your passport as proof you were overseas and did not

receive any warning or red letters. Do check your mail to see if you have missed any letters.

Oren: try checking AXS machine for your bike number. Maybe you were summoned for parking illegally or without coupon then someone took away your notice and you might not know about it.

I believe the letter u receive from LTA is call NTAC (Notice To Attend Court). If normal notice(NTO) sent out n not yet paid within 28 days they will send another letter. Don't worry just make ur way down to LTA on monday. bring all ur valid document for proof.

@O'Ren: ask someone to come along with you incase you need a guarantor to post bail.

No monies need to be paid if the offense is minor and the charge is not serious. Just need someone to do the paperwork. Relax, not a big deal.

 

Bring your passport as proof and explain to them you were not in town and it wasn't a case where you tried to avoid paying any fines.

 

If it's a court matter, you might need to attend court, but you can explain to the judge that you were not in Singapore when the notice came. Usually such matters can be settled quickly. In fact if you were out of town and had explained to the officer and showed proof and they still insist that you attend court, the judge might tick off the IO for wasting court time. So chill.....

don't panic...

1) go to LTA website and check if you have any outstanding fine...

2) check through your letters if you have recieved any red notices(happen to me before someone took away the parking summon and i got a red reminder letter cause i don't know i got summoned)...if its parking fine they will send you a few reminders before serving a court order for yu to attend court...

3) call LTA on Mon and check what is this about and find out what is your next step...

4) worst case is you have to attend court to pay the fine(from what i know,since court order already served,you cannot pay the compounded fine...have to attend traffic court)

6) MOST IMPORTANTLY,prepare all your travel documents to show LTA or the court you are not in sg during the court hearing date...

As usual, you guys are the best! No one can beat this group for support :)

 

Thanks everyone for taking the time to advise me, I feel much better :shy:

 

Couldn't find any fine anywhere online or in an AXS machine.

 

It can't be illegal Parking because I don't do that anymore- not worth the money - except for BTMO :lol: . So maybe I forgot my ERP card, that's all I can think about.

 

I'll take all my relevant documents with me, and Pillionette will come with me in case of bail needed.

There is nothing on this earth I am afraid of more than cockroaches. I think I can have a heart attack if I open a can and see one in it. Just reading your story I have chills. Eewwwwwwwwww...
