very fascinating link to a study on braking. they executed a whole series of experiments using 2 bikes and a buncha riders to determine the most effective method.

interestingly enough, apparently disengaging the clutch (clutch in) at the start of braking leads to the shortest stopping distance.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

from what u said, either a cold start or water or perhaps an air pocket. u have to be patient, just start rest, start rest, eventually u'll get it started, nothing to worry about, just be sure u're safe on the side of road or better, push it to a car park if possible.

actually i tried starting...rest...starting...rest a few times while waiting for glzco to come

Yeah, It could be due to air gap in the petrol nozzle at the bottom of the tank or could be due to water getting into tank.

My pulsar in India had this problem of rain water getting into the tank. When you open the fuel lid you will see a small hole at the side, which is used to take away the water through a pipe and prevent it from getting into the tank.

Whenever you take your bike for service make sure to get this hole air blown so that it is not blocked. If it is blocked, water will accumulate around the lid and finally enter the tank. I had a terrible time with this problem. Finally I bought a tank bra so no way water enter the tank

accident: major or minor? if minor, most likely u wont notice after the parts change. n most likely for 2nd bike, the bike has been fell b4. no owner can claim in the few yrs they own the bike they never fell b4.

some bike's milage has been 1 round, or has been reset, so it's not really a fool proof method, but still worth consideration.

all in all, if u know someone who knows about bikes and can spot defects, better bring him along. as mentioned, it's not just the 2 points above, lots of other factors to look out 4. but for workshop, worn out parts r usually taken care of and rem to ask if they provide warranty. that's what u paid the premium for. :thumb:

One way of estimating the bike's mileage is to look at the tyres carefully. If it has the stock MRF tyres then surely it wouldnt have crossed 30-40K mileage. My bike had stock MRF tyres and showed 30K on the odo. Since MRF tyres are not available in Singapore the mileage appears to be correct.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

here's the pic, the bigger 1 about 0.5-1 inch larger. i feel this big enough for bikes, the larger 1 more suitable for cars. i got 2 of them, prep to put on my bike. if u want to view it in person, we can arrange a kopi session n u see it 4 urself. however i dont gurantee it being weather proof, it's just plastic with chrome paint, but i did my research this type better than the metal 1s, and once stick on, very hard to take out, so don't have to worry much about those itch hands. :D

what i suspect is cold start. i'm not sure how it affects, but i suspect the weather could have something to do. when glzco came, his fuel could be warm, so when poured in n mixed with the cold fuel, it neutralize the temp, making it easier to ignite.

another tot i have is that ur reserve pipe could be jammed. try using until reserve n take out the pipe leading to ur carb. get a container n leak some fuel inside. notice if it flow smooth or not.

also from the container, take note of the fuel, if u see the fuel at bottom got water, then ur tank got water.
