Just sharing a few things I saw on the road these days:

 

- a motorbike u-turning on red light, to take advantage of all traffic stopped at the junction, to not have to wait for oncoming traffic to clear the junction or for the green arrow.

 

- a motorbike arrived at the stop line on the left lane when the rider wanted to turn right. Not a problem, he rode his bike straight along the stop line, placing himself in front of the right lane's first car, perpendicular to the lane, ready to move off to turn right. (The first thing that came to my mind when I saw that is "Allllamaaaaak!")

 

- A scrambler was playing Sonic on the express way, jumping from lane to lane, dancing around cars at 90km/h+. The rider was carrying a pillion, who was wearing flip flops, a tank top and shorts. I imagined how playful he would feel if he crashes and his pillionette ends up like she just had a sandpaper massage....

 

- An uncle on a phantom decided to cross Jln Bukit Merah from side to side, while traffic was coming towards him and all lights green. All that to stop at the other side of the avenue to get something from the 7/11.

 

I'm not a good rider yet and I am still learning many things, but when I see other riders do stupid stuff on the road, I think about how road users perceive us and how it's up to each and everyone of us to show them that bikers can be responsible, safe and respectful of rules and others on the road !

 

So please, from time to time, let's think about how we ride, and what we can do to improve our riding, and be safer for us and for the others, because it's often too late that we finally learn our lesson...

 

For me..to each his/her own..IMHO and most singaporean saying goes "you can do anything just don't get caught"...as i said before in one of my previous long post..i dun mind if that person/rider want to do funny/stupid stuff as long as he/she dont endanger/trouble/inconvenience/become a threat to other road users except for himself/herself..but thats unlikely also coz eg. the scrambler guy u mention was playing sonic rite....if he were to self-skid..him n the pillon will be injured and will inconvenience to other road users even though other vehicles wont hit him from the back or what not..becossss..if the bike stranded anywhere besides the road shoulder it will just cause obstruction.

 

Obstruction = inconveniences.

As for obeying rules..i never really see someone who really ride/drive on sg roads who are obedient to the rules standardized by driving schools like he pledge allegiance to safety like that.

 

Expressway speed limit 90km/h. If anyone late for work and the person is who has good work ethics..punctuality n stuff...u think he go 90/kmh - 100km/h? Doubt so. So wheres the safety in there?

Whether customized by a company or a rider, it;s still a customized Pulsar meaning not a stock one I never saw the pest control ones, but this one made me smile because I see their logo everyday at work when I go to the ladies :p:p

 

u are refering to "INITAL"

 

I've read that if you change the coil plate, to an Avenger 180 one, you can put a stronger bulb, up to 60W ! And without melting anything. That's why I asked the question some pages ago, but everyone totally ignored me :nono::nono:

So if anyone here knows what a coil plate does, how it affects the rest of the electronical set up of a Pulsar to change it's coil plate, I'd be happy to learn more

 

did change before... the result make no different. u change bigger bulb... the chrome reflective flaring inside, will melt. tested before... better dun try

I agree, no one can respect all the rules and yes, even if you think you're doing something that only involves you, you're right, on the road, it's going to involve someone else if there's trouble.

But I guess from my perspective, maybe because I read so much about road safety and I've spent hours looking at articles, bikers review of their accidents, and also pictures, I sort of grew a fail safe in my brain: whenever I see the bad biker in me starts to show its evil horns, like I start speeding or doing stuff I know is not really good, I immediately see those pictures of people's accidents, and it cools me down right away

 

It happened that I was late and really really didn't want to be late, so before I took off, i called and said I'm sorry, I'm late, and I give even more delay to the person: if I know i can make it normal speed in 20min, I say I'll be there in 30min so that I'm really not tempted to do something stupid. It's a bit silly, but it's to force myself to have limits.

i'm on left lane n on right lane there's a blue taxi, suddenly a red taxi cut from my lane n tail the blue taxi. approaching a red light, i think the blue taxi felt the stress, he safely cut to my lane, thus i'm preparing to stop behind him. however the red taxi paused 4 a while, turned out on my blind spot. i horned n almost kick him if he came any closer. after some manuver, my front n back got 1 taxi. i turned and using expression asking what's wrong with him, he just sit there motionless. on green light, i think the blue taxi in front felt something was wrong; i might wana pick up fast, so he swerve to the right lane. however i just take my time, the red taxi closely followed. when there's clearance, the red taxi sped up to behind the blue one and tap brake. the scenerio ended in a while when the red taxi turned to expressway while the blue went straight. now i'm still in shock over this incident.

COMPILATION OF SBT FAQs

 

 

This project (along with creating a website for our group, to serve the local pulsarians and communicate with fellow riders outside Singapore) is still alive, after being repeatedly started and forgotten (by many people including me).

 

I have been working on it again for a week or so now, and I need your help to review, amend and provide answers to the FAQs I am collecting from this very thread. (I am currently at page 23)

 

The idea is to come up with a list of specific questions, organized by categories, to answer any new or old pulsarians questions. These questions have been selected from this thread, some are very frequently asked, some are specific and rare, many are related and some need to be added to the list.

 

The attached file has different tabs :

 

- Blog Categories: this will help me create the blog/website's structure, and organize it's content

- SBT FAQs: this is the heart of this project, the idea is to compile FAQs to post them online for everyone to read and consult at anytime.

- Articles Material: ideas of articles and content for our website

- Useful files & URLs: links and files that can be useful to Pulsarians

1. Download the file, edit what you want/can, you can edit any tab content, or even add new tabs. Re-upload it here. I will compile all inputs.

But please ALWAYS ADD YOUR CHANGES IN COLOR !!! (either highlight the cell or use different font color)

 

3. Don't be shy, if you are reading/posting here, you probably know a lot about Pulsars, so please do share your knowledge. Feel free to suggest anything, to submit topics, to add ideas.

I have a technique with the cabs driver:

 

1. I horn until the whole damn avenue hears me and everyone looks in this direction

2. I make clear gestures so everyone knows who I'm pissed at

3. I slow down at their level if I can and tell them what I need to say (in your case, I would have gotten out of my bike - SG Gaban style - and walked to his window to him)

 

Basically, if you act like you're tahaning his behavior, they won't learn. You embarrass them (and a little bit yourself but that's the price to pay ) and they'll learn it.

u change the spocket, tires no need to change.

 

if u chg from bigger spocket to smaller spocket, can still use back chain, just knock out the excess.

 

if u chg from smaller to bigger, unless u can find some old chain to join back, u need to chg the chain also.

 

usually what ppl do is they chg the chain n spocket together, save the trouble.

In-case if a taxi driver is driving dangereous... call this number: 1800-Call-LTA (1800-2255-582). Log a Complaint with LTA.

 

1) They will call u to call TP and if cannot get to TP then call them back (Which i find it stupid)

2) Then ask LTA to take now complaint

3) Then following day, TP will call u and ask u what happen

4) Tp will send u a Email, requesting for your particular and if you like to stand witness if the driver contest again your complain.

Personally, Depend on situation. If you want to stop the cabby and talk. ensure that no nasty words been use. Talk to them about traffic rules and regulation. And stress the important of having a taxi license. Even if they report you to traffic, they still in losing end.

Any box, even side box, as long the bracket fits. Bike workshop or shop that sells bike accessories. Range from $50-$1xx, excluding bracket.

 

Q I heard the stock tyres don't have a good grip on the road, is it true ?

Not really true, just it not good for wet weathers.

 

Q What type of license do I need to be able to ride a Pulsar ?

SG only has P180 and P200, so at least 2B license. Unless P220 or P250 is imported, then u need class 2A for those.

 

Q Can I find the Pulsar 220 in Singapore ?

Not unless you import it yourself, then u need to pay tax etc, etc.

 

Q Where can I buy a brand new Pulsar ?

Universal Motors at Queensway

 

Q Where can I buy a second hand Pulsar ?

Any bike shop (if available) or forum

Q How much is the insurance for a Pulsar ? What is a second and third party insurance ?

There's no such thing as 2nd party insurance. It's either 3rd party or 3rd party + fire & theft or 1st party(full coverage). 2nd party just for easier saying cos there's 1 n 3 but no 2.

 

3rd party: accident claims only. eg u get into accident, ppl claim u

3rd party + fire & theft: same as above, but if ur bike got burnt or stolen, u're able to claim x% of market value of ur bike

1st party: anything, even can claim against ur self. eg, u drop ur bike, u can also claim for repairs.

 

Q How often must I do a bike inspection ?

Yearly after your bike is 3yrs old.

 

Q Is there any fairing that can be used to equip the Pulsar 180?

Yes, but need to customise.

 

Q Can I still buy a first hand Pulsar 180 UG 1/2/3 or do the shops only sell Pulsar 180 UG4 now?

Depend on availablity, currently UG3 (limited) n UG4 is available. UG1 and 2 is no longer in production.

 

Q Is intalling a light under the bike's seat legal ?

Installing any kind of additional lights on the exterial of a vehicle that can be viewed by a road user is illegal. Also applies to changing your headlight to other colours. Same thing applies to car.

 

Q Do I need to modify anything if I were to change my 2 pilot lights to led?

No, just use any T10 bulbs/led. (led is known to fail inspection)
