Hi all,

Just got a 2nd hand 06' 180p on tuesday, wanna know some details on the bike..

would be advisable to top up petrol on mainstand is it? and its from the bottom of the fuel meter then its going to be exactly full tank?

rust on the exhaust pipe from the start to the bottom of the engine is ok? or wait till have sound then change?

what speed and rpm would be optimum for fuel efficiency?

I just change my EO and spark plugs, so would only need to change them every 3-4k?

How about the battery? It seems the bike's headlamp flickers when it just starts but will be brighter when moving or revving. Is that normal?

Thanks.. =)

Hi all,

Just got a 2nd hand 06' 180p on tuesday, wanna know some details on the bike..

would be advisable to top up petrol on mainstand is it? >>> yes, but prefer not to the brink, if not side stand parking might have a bit petrol leak. and its from the bottom of the fuel meter then its going to be exactly full tank? >>> dunno what you meant

rust on the exhaust pipe from the start to the bottom of the engine is ok? or wait till have sound then change? >>> can wait till exhaust very loud when revving then change. unless you are rich to maintain a chrome exhaust

what speed and rpm would be optimum for fuel efficiency? >> travel 80-90km/hr will be good for fuel optimum at expressway. less than 5k will be dangerous along xpresssway

I just change my EO and spark plugs, so would only need to change them every 3-4k? >>>recommended 2-2.5k km for eo. spark plug can last longer, maybe 10k

How about the battery? It seems the bike's headlamp flickers when it just starts but will be brighter when moving or revving. Is that normal? >>> very normal, flickering at start is because charging from cold. after 10 mins should be stable

Thanks.. =)

please see >>>> for reply

Welcome to SBT

reason why we top up when the bike is on main stand/upright is so that you can top up more & more accurately

if you top up while on side stand the petrol in your tank will be loop sided

so when you straighten/upright your bike you will find that actually there is still space for more petrol

when you top up take note not to top up till when you close your fuel cap petrol will overflow

petrol on your paintwork will spoil it

the fuel meter is not that accurate if you want to calculate your mileage use your trip meter to calculate rather than depend solely on your fuel guage

rust on your exhaust pipe your bike still can ride

rust on the exhaust pipe can be removed if you want

you can remove the exhaust pipe and sand it off then spray a layer of heat resistant paint on it to protect it

or you can just leave it which will cause holes to appear on your exhaust over time

then when you weld your exhaust then the mech will settle it for you

cos if your rear has lesser teeth your rpm for certain speeds will drop

which also means you need to adjust your idling rpm

our engine runs on 2 spark plugs up to 6.5k rpm

anything above that the right plug will shut down and the left plug will run all the way till red line

speed wise 80-90+km/h is good for fuel efficiency

fuel efficiency also depends on riding habits, loading of bike, tire pressure etc

for P180 EO advise to change at 2-2.5k

have seen pulsar riders who just ride will their bike EO dried up and piston jam, gear disintergrated etc

so EO change is important don't delay too long

spark plugs manual state every 10k but can last longer

just take out clean off the carbon and check the head if it is still good still can use

battery change depends one

some 2 yrs change some 3 yrs change some 1yr+ change

or like ah pet 2 wks change 2 battery

haha

safe side change every 1 1/2 to 2 yrs

I need a favour from S4 rider here to enlighten me on the model and version spec for the sprocs to be available. There lots of version when I google for it. Which model is popular in Singapore and whats sproc size, no of holes, year of manufacture and chain size and numbers. ...

Hope S4 rider can assist me .. thanks. :thumb:

The Tiger bike is getting very popular nowadays. I have seen a few lately on the road. There is an Icecream cart in Tampines and he has bought a brand new Honda Tiger FBE plate to sell icecreams :)

Sorry cant go for BTMO.Involved in yet another accident yesterday night. It happened at the junction of Chong Pang CC.I was going straight, green light in my favour.Right side of me got car wanna turn right go out to pocket so the car will block the opposite car's view.I was going ard 50-60km/hr thn I alr enter the big yellow box in the junction when I saw him turning right(opposite car)He saw me but he still moved on and even though I swerved I still hit his car at the side of the front bumper and I flew and landed on my back I think. The driver then told the witness and my bro that there were pedestrians who walked forward then walked back causing him to be stuck at the yellow box.

A few people came to help me and since I was near my auntie's house(was otw there) I called her and told her what happened. There was this motorist who really helped me alot.He took out my helmet and with the help of a few others carried me to the pavement.I could not get up and move by myself because my lower back was damn painful.Ambulance came and they sent me to KTP Hospital(new one at yishun). They took x-rays of my lower back and luckily nothing severe happened.I was discharged around 3+am with the witness(motorist) who stayed there with my brother.

The driver is a nice guy according to my brother and the witness. He immediately apologised and said it was his fault. He even paid for the bike tow.My lower back is still in pain, hard to walk and move about but itll recover quite fast coz its just swollen.had abrasion on my right elbow and left knee which is just minor even though I was wearing berms(Gotta thank my lucky stars). If I did not manage to swerve I would've hit him head on and I would've flew even further.

Gotta thank god man.So lucky to be alive. The witness said that he saw the accident and thought I was dead or severely injured.Lucky that didnt happen.
