oren hows the shirt project?

Have not progressed since last update I'm afraid, did not have many feedback from members here so can't move forward.. I asked the group for feedback on design and preferred logos but not much reply, I think 1 person replied maybe ? I can go and dig that post again but everyone needs to participate otherwise there's no point.

I had gone to change EO in Ah Gua lane, bro. After changing EO I just casually asked the mech if he could oil my chain also, he agreed and he also tightened the chain because it was too slack. So both chain tightening and oiling both for free.

I feel oiling the chain can be done sametime as when you do EO change(I do once in 2 months) since mine is the covered chain guard. That way it also gets done for free:cheeky:

Thanks everyone who advised on how to push start.

I managed to do it yesterday but was pushing the bike by running on its side and i cut my leg. It's a bit deep but nothing to go to the doctor for. It will definitely leave a scar though.. :(

I think i throttled too much and the bike sort of jumped ahead, and in my attempt to keep it under control, I think the main stand cut my leg. It's the only thing sharp enough.

But I put a plaster on it and cleaned the wound so it's all good now, it's my first bike injury :cheeky:

After that I decided to push start the bike using Eliminator's advice: either I sit on it and push it like a duck , or I use the slope down - either ways work fine. Will see this evening after work if I manage to do it in my work place's carpark.

@Alvin: I don't want to install the chain oiler and I already have the hazard lights but i will join if date and time are OK for me. Will be happy to help other with the hazard lights.

are you going down to UM again to get the problem solved?

btw 2ml nite you going down for the meet up for the rde safe event?

just to clarify

the oiler is done for convenience

is up to personal preference

for me is cause i know i need to oil my chain but i keep forgetting to bring down my chain lube

so with this oiler i just need to turn on and continue to ride

when i reach my destination i just turn it off

so is up to each individual to decide

covered chain guard also need to regularly oil/lube the chain

yes there will be less dirt and dust on your chain but your chain is still running and the oil/lube will still wear off even if it is inside the guard

as to how often to oil/lube it depends on individual

some say every 300+km some say every 500+km

what type of oil/lube to use also up to you

can use EO also

but don't use WD40

when to oil actually varies across diff type of bikes, how u ride n what oil u use. generally when u see the chain quite dry, it's time to oil. keep ur chain wet is good, however becareful of the spill to ur tires.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

in oiling ur chain.. do tk note of the amt u apply.. too much and you'll end up having oil dripping all the time.. dirtyin both the floor and ur own bike wen u ride.. too little.. risk ur chain getting too much friction.. thou.... sinnob sprocket gears help abit..

I understand your frustration.. all junctions along Serangoon road, and especially the Tekka one are just pure madness. And I think on a bike it's still ok..when you drive a car, just get ready to go nuts. For me, as soon as get closer to that area, right away my brain switched to DANGER MODE: I slow down, usually don't ride above 4th gear, and at the junction at 2-3th gear because I can't predict that some crazy guy is not going to suddenly decide he wants to cross anyhow in front of me without looking right or left. The car drivers are also very impatient and frustrated in that area so they become more dangerous cause they tend to want to accelerate their way off that area.

$300 for littering, what were you doing ? Threw a cigarette bud ?

usually i just keep a distance from the front vehicle. sometimes a bike just cut me, but i just let him cut. riding a bike thru the crowd is not big deal, u have to have patience. however if the car just stop for no reason in the mid of road, u get frustrated. to add up, just becareful in there.

$300 is very hefty for littering, really wonder who caught him n how he did it...

hope u're all right.

i've never done push start b4, but i would advise to pull in the clutch n brake once the bike is alive. it's similar to how u down ur bike from main stand, the direction of ur front wheel needs to be controlled too. timing and control is very crutial in push start.

Do you guys lube or oil ur chain after a bike wash? Cos i wash my bike very often as in once or twice a week so i lube very often? comment pls.

if u never got water on ur chain, then dont lube also can. however if u wash chain, it's better to wait the water dry 1st then lube.

I am really surprised that you have to lube the chain like every 500+ kms. Its not even mentioned in the maintenance manual. Thats why I thought when it goes for servicing every 5k kms it gets lubed.

it really depends, if it gets dry better do the maintainence urself, similar to adjusting ur rear brake. by the time u travelled 5k, i guess the oil alrady dry up.

like what arthur said it depends

actually it is stated in the manual

to lube your drive chain every 500km

and adjust the slack every 2.5k
