which is better? dry or wet cell?

um keep recomm dry cell, cos maintaince free, but personally i prefer wet cell. my next battery change, i'll get a wet cell.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

iirc, our wet batteries are sealed, not like car battery where u can top up water. i dont know if u get it opened, how u gona seal it back.

No they're not, you can open the rubber lid , empty them and fill them again.

cos someone showed me his wet battery sometime back, he told me battery was sealed at workshop. i think it's possible to unseal, but sealing it back will require some taping. or perhaps the wet battery u meant was a different type.

aiyoooh bro... to open the Wet battery cover you need to pull out the long plastic or rubber lid on top of the battery lah :faint:

for Dry battery yes it need to be sealed.

At UM they have done it for you but if you buy the dry battery at AhBoy (see pic), you need to diy cos the battery and the water (fluid) comes separately. You need to peel off the paper lid to top in the battery water (fluid) from the plastic bottles provided. Once all fluid filled in and checked to make sure there are bubbles coming up in each of the chamber in the battery then you need to seal the lid and all done ready for usage! :)

Warning! Once sealed, the cover are prohibited to open at any conditions and if the lid are accidentally opened, it means leakage and cannot be used anymore!!!

the pics posted look like wet cell. for dry cell how come u need put water? the wet battery i saw look like the 1 u posted, thats what i meant: the sticker seal on top seals all the cap, preventing water from leaking. once u opened it up and did ur maintainence, how are u gona seal it back?

the dry cell um provided is in a box, ready to use. iirc, dry cell can be kept for years if u dont use it. even after years of storage, it still can be use like new, so there isn't a need to diy.

Both works well and need some care to have the life span longer ... heheheh

However if you want to use lots of LED or even HID then you need to istall aftermarket Regulator (battery bank capacity) to help the life span of the battery, with this then wet battery works better than dry battery.

But still again wet battery need extra maintanance time .. to check often and top up the battery water compare to dry battery.

Both need volt meter to have you aware of its condition either to recharge it or replace new battery accordingly.

my 2 cents lah here ....

bro .. that battery is mine I bought at AhBoy for back up and it is a DRY BATTERY.

As mentioned before and previous I posted .... my DRY battery 4 months old bought at UM, leaked and the battery water spilled over and have my battery bracket corroded. Ah Wai at that time saw the condition of my battery and noted Chris about it. They told me it is a rare case and cannot change for a new one cos the battery is not from Bajaj original. I do feel like being cheated at that time and fight for my right since UM recomended me to change for Dry Battery from Wet battery. UM covered 10 percent only to have my dry battery changed. Dissapointed but after a while I cooled down and forget about it cos I'm Autobot gang hehehe friendly people hahahaha.

Hopefully this link will enlighten those with doubts to understand better including me lah hehehe ... http://www.absak.com/tech/gell_cell.pdf

Hi peepz,

Came in to say hi. Think quite a handful of peepz know me ya.

After reading all these, I like to share abit of what I've learnt recently.

I jus changed job and got a little knowledge of battery so lets spar.

Your "Dry Cell" actually is refering to Maintainance Free or MF. Tentatively is similar to car type.

Just tat for bike MF needs to pour in the electrolyte ourselves and wait for 15mins after the chemical reaction become stablize ( ie .. the bubbling finishes) then seal up the batt.

I would say currently the Traditional Wet type is seldom use in today's Singapore context except for Commerical vehicle like Truck & Buses.

There is another type of battery know as Spiral technology

http://www.vimet.eu/spiral_cell_motorcycle_battery

The key thing about a battery is the CCA (cold Cranking Ampere) where helps you to crank up your bike in the morning.

So Having a High CCA is very important. If Needed use a Battery Analyzer which can tell the CCA level besides only the voltage.

1 very common misunderstanding when after changing new batt is to ride home and throw the bike aside. That is a no-no

you should go and ride around, have some tea. Ride up the highway. Let the electrolye acid have time to react with the GlassMatt and lead fully before you kill the engine.

If not your new batt will die soon after if u change, ride home park bike, go for long trip and...... ur bike will not start after 1 week of vacation.

Cheers
