@MJ : thanks for all the answers :thumb: I must say everytime I washed the bike I never worried about the headlight waterproofing, but now that I oppened it and left a bit of space because of my switch wires running through I'm worried :cheeky:

Yes we can discuss this on Sunday and look at the bikes.

Funny you mention the gopro camera, just got myself a HD Hero GoPro, taking advantage of low USD dollar and promotion on VPOST shipping.. I have not tested it yet and just charged it. Too much projects going on on my bike at the moment but yeah they have a wide range of mounting options, it's too much even !

Looks like its raining very heavily in the North. Although my raincoat will protect me, my leather shoes and socks will be become soggy:eek: I think I should start carrying sandals to ride when it rains. But then sandles are not safe for riding rite? Then what rubber shoes without socks? :faint:

Where do you guys put all the rain gear, protection gear, helmets etc? Now I know why the side boxes are needed

Komine does some rain boot covers: it's basically like a raincoat for your shoes , in the form of a boot ! :D Very easy to put on and off and very efficient. Available at Motoworld.

These have extra rubber on the bottom so you don;t slip on the footrest.

Of course, the best option is waterproof boots. Take some time to go to Regina and Motoworld to look around at the boots: some are typically for racing and off road riding but they have a few models that will work for you for casual/daily commuting. It's perfect as keeps you warm at night too :)

Finally, me if it's pouring heavily and I don't have the proper gear to protect me, I wait. In Singapore in never pours heavily non stop for hours. Ma 30 min and it drizzles again. Stop, get kopi or just play with your phone until the rain stops or becomes lighter and then ride again. It's safer for your leather shoes but also for you & your bike to avoid any stupid accident because people when it rains pay less attention and have less control on their vehicles..

ah boy's $15 rain shoe cover served me well, almost 1/2 yr no problem, of cos i didnt use regularly.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

RS Taichi rain shoe cover ... Motoworld lavender .... have not try it yet but looks better than Komine which currently I'm using .... heheheh

But the cheap cheap rain cover ... @ NTUC fairprice hehehehe

Wanna the cheapest rain cover? ... just wrap with any plastic bag.... It's better than using slippers or sandals ... just need a little careful when stopping the bike.

This where I don't really understand with riders not preparing their rain gears .... forgot to bring in another story but do not want to bring along .. that's I don't understand. If rain,. quickly find shelter and sit under the bridge like coocoo, see the sky, smoke cig + exhaust smoke too or make calls ... seriously using handphone during raining time !! .....

Danger is everywhere not only during riding .. the most importantly is to ride with more care. There are cases too where a rider for nothing was knocked down by a car while taking shelter under tha bridge. Accidents to happen will happen .. it's already fated that way. ....

As a rider ... don't try to be a hero and don't be a coward too!! Just be yourself as rider be it rain or shine, jamm or butter, the road is yours to ride!

Safe riding always and be alert at all times!!

@MJ: you got a point, but me if I stop because of the rain, it's never gonna be under some bridge.. Or by the side of the road. That's just madness for people who are not afraid of anything. If I have a long ride and no gear:

1. I don't take off until the sky is clearer

2. If already riding, I find a proper spot to stop: covered carpark, shop, or some area without cover where I leave the bike and go myself somewhere near.

The reason why I don't carry rain gear : I have only a very very short ride to work, I don't have a box, I can easily wait for the rain to stop before going out.

I agree a rider should be able to ride under any weather but why would I get into that trouble when I know it's not safe, and the rain will stop in 20min? If we were in UK that's another story, but here seriously, it's so easy to wait for the rain to stop and so much safer that this way works for me.

Nah, no one will know wen the rain would stop. It can be 2 mins, it can be 2 weeks. Happened few years back wen it rained for 2 weeks non stop and even the forcaster cant predict it. This is just personal preference, if u guys r not confident in riding on wet weather, den find a safe place to stop and wait for the rain to stop. Nothing rong wif dat. And those who are confident in riding on wet weather, go ahead, as long as u know wat u are doing. stoping at safe place just ‘reduces the risk factor’.
