Ahahaha.. this doesn't make sense but somehow it does and it cracked me up, thanks Arthur haha

dear pulsarians! :)

just wana ask some thing.. i rang up UM today inquired about a new P200's price n stuff.. since i'm planning to buy the bike on installment david told me that the criteria for a guarantor is, be a Singaporean/PR who owns a property in SG!... i can easily find a person who is a local or PR but the ppl i know don't own a property.. have any of you gone thru this before n have some experience with UM?

correct me if i'm wrong.. usually organizations require a guarantor to be a local/PR, between the age of 21-60, a non bankrupt.. n they dont worry whether the person has a property or not... so was wondering how those ppl who don't have such guarantor (who doesn't own property) can purchase a bike from UM..

I've NEVER heard of such thing, this is the very first time I hear this.

A guarantor, ok, but owning a property? What next ? Someone who has kids that can work their entire life to refund in case you flee the country and their dad dies? This is madness.. There should be a limit at how much guarantee someone can ask a foreigner..

On ome hand businesses in SG are glad to sell to foreigners and to have them take up credit, but on the other hand, they will only do it if there's a 10 rules list checked. Why not just say "well you're a foreigner so pay full cash upfront otherwise I can't sell to you". And that's that. No, now there's the need to find a citizen who owns property - this is really stretching it.

Dejaxx, maybe you can show your income pay slip to the shop and convince them you are able to afford the installments ? Even the bank doesn't ask for such things before landing you money..

Hello people, been suay recently. I just kana summon from sembawang town council, will e fine be very ex, possible to write in & appeal be aide there was no lot so I park at e pavement. My bike was covered, are these people allow to touch our bike & flip open e cover. I had a clip to clip e cover to my bike but he did not put it back I place. Need help here :(

I would say for public safety any sort of authority, even if just town council, should be allowed to check under a bike's cover. Obviously because you parked on the pavement, there isn;t even a point to discuss there - they have the right to check it, and even move the bike if it's stopping pedestrian walking by.

Appeal for parking there because there was no parking lot isn;t going to work. What can work is : 1.this is your first offense 2. you're a P-Plater 3. you only went in for an emergency or something important for a very short time.

otherwise, just forget it and pay.

I've been fined more than I am willing to admit, and the lesson i now took on board is:

- always have 65cents parking coupons

- never park on pavement, at least park next to a car in a parking space, or somewhere far from pedestrian walk ways

- If indeed you're only parking for a short time, keep your bike in your sight. If you have to go too far away from so you can't see it anymore, then it's worth wasting another 10min and look for a good spot to park.

- if there is NO other bike parked in the area, avoid at all costs to park there, your bike will stick out like a sore thumb

- If there are lots of bikes parked illegally, check if they don't have fines, and if not but it's still during the day, avoid parking there cause an officer might be lurking

Sorry I don;t have a clear solution for you but hope the above advice help you reconsider in the future. I am still learning myself to be more careful with parking and ERP cashcard (always forget it damn it..)

just curious, what type of property? a bike is also a property. maybe this loan is from bank and this is their requirement. so do check out the finer details. if not just change another bank see if can work.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?
