Nobody experienced before huh.... Sigh.... :(

is yours EFI? Sounds like your carb might be over flowing. Heard some one who had a harley didn't know you weren't suppose to anyhow twist the throttle. OVerflooded his carb and started. Blew out his air filter.

Mine is '03 Carb. I usually don't have the habit to twist before starting up, just press and start up in the morning and it just fires up like that.... only happens after i fill up. Bike a bit stubborn to start up on the first attempt. Why is that so?

Get your carbs checked. Maybe it's leaking. For harley carbs, usually when you leave overnight, it empties itself, hence the trick to start it after it sits too long is to give it a couple of twist, pull half choke and start it. Then after you ride it for awhile or it has warmed up, you close the choke and everything will be smooth. No farting rides the first 5 mins.

I have a nagging question....

can someone share their experiences or heard of experiences for HD that breaks down or have a puncture on the NS highway/trunk roads in Malaysia? what does it take to get on the road again or how to get the bike towed back to Singapore?

i read on some forums, the HD tires are tubeless and can be patched, but will need to bring a pump...

Ha ha, very funny.... Reckless....

My answer is very simple, the last time when i needed a tow in malaysia.... (can't get the nightmare off my head....) is to call a malaysian tow truck who has license to tow into singapore.... will tow to your doorstep/workshop.

Cost of towing = $400++

Experience you have to go through = Priceless

Hi guys,

Has anybody tried lowering their front (fork). I was browsing through e-bay on lowering kits and they showed pictures of 2 springs with some washers, another showed some nail-like metals. Can anbody explain to me how its done? I have lowered 1.5 inches off the back and would like to do the same for the front. Thanks in advance.

if i am not wrong, lowering the fork removes the original fork oil, replacing with lower quantity of denser fork oil, and the springs are also shorter and stiffer than the original springs, thus the fork sits in the sleeves lower than original.

My Rides:

LuLu, Piaggio Gilera Runner FXR 180 (Feb05-Aug05)

PhanPhan, Honda Phantom TA 200 (Aug05-July07)

Leyley, HD Sportster XL1200R (Jul07-July09)

TiTi, Yamaha Majesty YP250 (Jul07-Oct09)

DyNaNa, HD FXDX Dyna SGS (Jul09-Dec10)

LanPaPa, Vespa Excel PX150XE (Oct09-Jul10)

PiaSekSek, Piaggio X8 (Aug10-Dec10)

Stixie, Honda ST1300A (Jan11-Nov15)

Giogio, Piaggio MP3 400IE (Nov15-??)

Yes you are correct. My wife's Roadster has had front and back lowered and the front kit is basically a set of shorter springs as mentioned by Lunloon.

The only pain is the sidestand has not neen shortend so somtimes depending on the angle of the road the bike has to be leaned to the right to get the stand down. The other thing is that when I ride it (which is a real hoot BTW) I will scrape if I lean into corners too much.

Ooohhh.... so they have to remove the original springs and the fork oil. It should be an easy job rite. Yes, like what Hagar mentioned, because i bought the rear down by 1.5 - 1.75 inches, it is a pain when i try to bring the side stand down (especially on a full tank). I foresee that i may need to change the side stand when i lower the front. Any bros has any front lowering kit to recommand. Thanks all.

you can also opt to change the degree of rake via triple tree, gives the bike a longer feel

Hi Max,

Long time no hear from you.... My Glide already comes with the extended fork... thought of just lowering the forks instead of changing the angle. Are there other options to consider?

just saw your post, my bad

when i was considering changing the rake to 3 degree, i suddenly realised that the bike will be lower, a local indy shop mechanic told me he can extend my fork by using an extender,..i dont know if yours is done the same way, if it is i believe it can be removed.

wanna ride with madness?
