Dell laptop mini $999.

Anybody got any comments for this laptop? Told of getting it at the coming PC shop if they hav good offers.

 

Going to use it for norm applications like word, excel, email, and perhaps some simple photoshop work.

Looking at the rumored specifications for the Dell mini-Inspiron, it possibly can do all three, without much lag.

 

Photoshop-wise, you may not wanna use Version 10 (aka "CS3") if this ultra mobile PC is going to have 512MB of memory and no high-end graphics card.

 

Rumored specs:

Cpu: Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz

Memory: 512 Ram

Storage: 4GB Solid-state in-built Flash-Memory Hard Drive

Screen size: 8.9″ at 1280×800 resolution

 

EDIT: Oh yeah, this lil thing comes with either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux. I'd presume you would want the former OS

I've done some research on its specs here, it'll function reasonably smooth if you do essential stuff with it...web surfing, word processing, etc.

 

But I believe it's going to choke itself if you take this 900MHz Celeron-processor Laptop to do some heavy computing with it.

can the memory be upgraded. nvr had dell b4, so dunno is it not upgradable via other means, like getting cheap good ram from the pc show...
