As an EX-KTM2 owner, I can tell you honestly that KTM2 is NOT good for transportation... main reasons being:

1. High Fuel Consumption (10~15km/L)

2. High maintanance

Off road tyres wears out very quickly when used on-road, and it is totally not grippy when the road is wet...

If you really really want it so badly, the answer to your questions will be:

Q: do i need to change e rims or anything else?

A: Nope... you can change to those road-friendly tyres without changing the rim... unless you want to go motard, then you need to change the wheelset+tyre and maybe a bigger front disc brake

Q: whats is the things to check on this bike for common faults?

A: There are quite a lot of things to check if you want to purchase any 2nd bike... basically -

1) Oil leak

2) Suspension... got damping? or like a pongo-stick?

3) Tyres... are the knobs fresh? or already badly abused?

4) Pipe... does it sound like "dang dang dang" or sounds very choked up?

5) Does it idle? Is it easy to kick-start?

There are many many more things to check....I just listed down some of them... Hope other forumer will be able to contribute

Good luck in your search

No prob...

The damping part is a bit hard to visualize...

Basically... let's say u take 2 sec to press down the bike, does it bounce back to the original position (high chance no more rebound damping)? or does it slowly return back to the original position (should be fine)? (Of coz, this can be adjusted to personal preference... and some people might like the pongo-stick feeling... you got to check with the shop/owner)

Conversion is not necessary if you want to use it for daily transportation... if you see the knobs are pretty worn out (esp the front... worn out knobs will look uneven... something like the saw blade... one knob high one knob low fron the side)... my suggestion is to change tyre... if not when you ride you will feel like riding a horse (up down up down... esp at the front)

Other than that, maybe just change oil+water+plug just for a piece of mind and keep track of the mileage.... my practice last time was to change oil+water+plug every 1000KM (some don't change the water... personal preference again)

KTMs are very pampered bikes... if they are a little sick, you better bring them to the doctor and solve it.... if not a small sickness will just amplify to a larger one

Good luck
