Guys I just changed my rear license plate and the mechanic guy said the rear plate should be of two rows FR in first row and 8888 X in the second row, i wana check if it can be reduced to one row like the front plate ?

I ask before and their answer is cannot reduce to one row.

Even if your plate is F 8 X also must make 2 row.

 

If you really want to do, just don't get caught.

Single Row confirm cannot. I kena b4 a few timez :lol: But if U really keen on doin it i suggest better decrease the Size as well coz as long it is nt Standard the Fine iz the same $70. So no nos Plate also the same Fine...

We refer to your enquiry of 01-OCT-2005.

 

2. We have no objection to the proposed arrangement of your motorcycle’s identification mark on the licence plate (i.e. index mark, registration number and suffix appearing in a straight line, e.g. AY 1 A) so long as the following requirements are met:

 

• Colour Scheme (for Front and Rear Licence Plates)

The colour scheme of your motorcycle’s licence plate shall comply with one of the following configuration:

a) Identification mark shall be white, silver or light grey in colour, and indelibly affixed on a black background for both front and rear licence plates; or

b) Identification mark shall be black in colour, and indelibly affixed on a white reflex-reflecting background for the front licence plate, and on a yellow reflex-reflecting background for the rear licence plate.

 

• Dimensional Requirements for Front Licence plate of Motorcycles

a) The identification mark shall be 35mm high, 25mm wide and 5mm broad;

b) The space between adjoining alphabets of the index mark and the space between adjoining numbers of the registration number shall be separated by a distance of 5mm;

c) The space between the index mark, registration number and suffix shall be separated by a distance of 10mm;

d) The margin between the nearest part of any alphabets or numbers to the top or bottom of the number plate shall be 5mm; and

e) The margin between the nearest part of any alphabets or numbers to the sides of the licence plate shall be 10mm.

 

• Dimensional Requirements for Rear Licence plate of Motorcycles

a) The identification mark shall be 50mm high, 30mm wide and 5mm broad;

b) The space between adjoining alphabets of the index mark and the space between adjoining numbers of the registration number shall be separated by a distance of 10mm;

c) The space between the index mark, registration number and suffix shall be separated by a distance of 20mm; and

d) The margin between the nearest part of any alphabets or numbers to the top, bottom or sides of the licence plate shall be 10mm.

 

3. You may wish to know that the licence plate must be exhibited at the front and at the rear of your motorcycle at a height of not more than one metre from the ground in a vertical position so that every alphabets and numbers of the licence plate is easily distinguishable. Please also note that there shall not be any other figures, letters, design advertisement or ornamentation placed near the identification mark of the licence plate in such a manner as to render it difficult to read or distinguish when the vehicle is in motion.

It reflects light..As you could see on the white number plates..The white reflects light in the dark when it is being shine on..And so does the yellow ones..:rolleyes:

i know tis is abit out of topic, but im seeing more & more bikes' (esp S4) plate at an angle to the ground. its illegal from the plate requirements...But, IT LOOKS COOL!!!...hahaha. may i ask wher can i do this?...

yeah i guess it concludes that single line plates are legal as far as the words follow that requirement but the referring document has been dated 17-OCT-2005, is there any changes later ?

you can do it urself, just need to replace or cut your rear license plate holder.

Just checked the LTA webby. The requirements are the same as the 2005 letter.

For the angled plates, I'd recommend you not do it unless you got time & $70 to burn. TP & LTA do not take kindly to angled & shrunk plates.

so the plate number in a single row is legal alr?

 

if ur plate is like AZ 1 L

 

can straight line la

 

 

but cannot use the kuniang size of plate..

 

must use the normal Plate size that can fit stadard number like:

 

FBA

9999X

 

but put the AZ 1 L in the Centre of the plate with the font size requirements.
