There's always this "thing" between bikes and taxis.

Since I've started this thread, I'm still encountering several bad incidents wif them muthAfoOkers.

Ride safe guys.

Man, if you have these kind of accidents so frequently, then there must be something wrong with the way you ride.

Yes, they are mostly tired, distracted by passengers and sometimes just plain inconsiderate. But it is not always only their fault. A few days ago I saw a S4 staying for about 2 minutes around rear passenger door of a cab I was in on almost empty AYE. It was the worst road positioning he can do. And he was doing it consistently.

Are you sure you do not make similar mistakes? Try to recall, every time you had those accidents, where were you with respect to the cab and if it was possible to stay in some other place so that he can see you or just unable to harm you?

Lemme guess.... Your dad's a taxi driver?

I have never had an accident with a taxi (hopefully), juz bad incident/encounter.

I'm riding a relatively small and slow bike and I also do advise others to ride safe.

If you're riding, may I ask how many years of riding do ya have?

No, but I'm one of those answered "No" to the question above. And I'm driving occasionally outside of Singapore.

It's good to hear that you did not have an actual accident. But what I'm trying to say that if some near-miss happens too frequently, we have to treat it as an alarm. Ask ourselves "What I need to do to minimize a chance in the future?", not "What is wrong with them?"

I'm riding slightly less then 2 years. But I'm not particularly young and a bit paranoid about safety, that is why I always try to analyze my and other riders mistakes.

if the taxi driver are rushing for booking like that is fcuking unfair to us as it might cause more accident. even taxi driver said that they always rush for their booking and i think taxi driver will just kill us any time n i dont know how come the goverment approve this type of dangerous booking, cant there be any inprovement? few weeks ago due to motor bike accident rate r high, T.V commercial always show motor bike speed n accident why never show car or taxi accident? this is sooooooooooooo UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't know how effective the things work...

Sadly, complaining to taxi companies doesn't do much good, especially in the case of a near miss. Their theory is probably that a miss is as good as a mile. They don't take complaints seriously until it's too late. Which means, they'll only pay attention when an accident has already occured and someone is injured. They don't seem to understand the concept of prevention being better than cure. At the end of the day, all we can do is rant and rave to vent our frustration and then just vow to ride safe and try to anticipate the crazy actions of cab drivers.

Guys, think u have to stand at the taxi driver's point of view...

PErsonally i dun really like them, but well, they are still humans doing their job!

They drive like tt mostly for job sake.

The actual person to blame, i should point to the passenger!

Should be familiar to scenes of A**-*oles flagging a cab round a corner, a bend, right after a traffic light, etc..

Also A**-*oles having given the wrong directions / never give directions but suddenly decided to give directions, causing the cabby uncle to 'swerve' into the change lane mood kinda thing??

Aniwae, keep ur eyes wide open :giddy: Keep a safe-r distance away from cabbies if you must :goodluck:

since they are so "well-known"... Just gotta live with it... Just like how people in BKK live with their *Traffic Jam*...

On our part, we can't do anything much about their "driving habits"...

But we can:

- keep a look out

- keep a distance

- keep praying

:D

Had encounters with them b4 too...

Just thank god i'm still typing lor...

Taxis.......They are really horrible man......I still tink that they own the road...they can jam E-brake and stop juz cos sme1 is waving them down....Do u tink it's fair to other road users...???

Yes...mayb they are trying to making a living.....bt dun u tink the way they drive, it's just going to make a killing??

But there are very gd taxi drivers also......I have seen them giving way to other road users even though they have the right of way......

So, it's the person behind the wheel and not their job nature........

IMO, some of them like to high beam, jam e-brake, don't signal, horn unneccesarily, argue with passenger, don't give way to pedestrains, choose passengers, nag at passengers, speed.

I am not so angry as a rd user cos their kind of driving is expected and as a rider, it is best to take precaution than rail at them when an accident happens.

But I AM EXTREMELY PISSED WHEN I USE THEIR SERVICE. THEY MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THEY R MY CUSTOMER AND NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.

THEIR COMPANIES SHOULD SEND THEM FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SAFETY DRIVING TRAINING.

Not forgetting that they tailgate at high speed without realising their brakes & tyres are not of top grade...

I just kanna on the PIE at the camera area. Was travelling on lane 3 (joining the slower moving vehicles) at ard 90km/hr going to slow down to 80km/hr before reaching the cam.

1 white cab overtook my left as there were 4 lanes...... Fair enough, he wanna test the camera limit that's his business......

Another blue cab came up from behind me & was almost kissing my butt, can't slow down anymore, have to throttle with the brake lights on to prevent him from doing anything silly.

Pass the camera at ard 85 km/hr. :giddy:

Didn't see any flashes so guess I'm still safe...... But where were the TP when I most needed them?

You think about this.

Every cab spends at least 20 freaking hours on the road every day.

Half the time driver tired. But got to drive on, money is an important factor.

With cab rental and diesel prices going up up and away, less passengers, and more cabbies..... so some of them got to drive CRAZY TAXI. They got parents to feed, children to give pocket money to and things are getting more and more expensive...

Yes it's rude of them to cut into your lane, break without warning or even fail to notice you....

But put yourself in their position.

Give them a break. And just be wary on the road, be it taxis, BMWs, buses, Ah beng or Ah seng cars....

me as a panssenger think that most cabbies are friendly. when im inside, i dont see them having any troubles around bikes or vice versa.

recently, a taxi driver UNCLE sang the song 'My Hump' by BEP to me ahahhahahahaha i think funny. and i've nv argued with any cab drivers b4. but thats besides the point.

I dun have problem with them at all. Just that some drive damn slow.

well i think lady drivers are the worst drivers of all time. lol im critisizing my own kind. tsk..
