Have been reading such cases here and had been seeing nonsensical replies from people who probably have not experienced it at all. Im not trying to flame anyone but just felt that it isnt helping the poor fella who needs help by telling him his whole family would get revoked, fines of few thousands.

 

I had encountered a similar situation back then so would like to share my experience with your friend. Sad to say its revoke for sure, though the nicer tp or io will pretend like u wont get revoked telling you suspension not less then 12months. But 12months and above means revoke. A Court attendance and fine is mandatory.

 

Btw I got 15months suspension and $600 fines after appealing thru MP and a lawer's mitigation letter to TP(I think that the MP's letter is useless and didnt help much, my mp is the new Law minister btw lol). I believe the others here whom had this **** before would had gotten fines usually more then $1000. Period of suspension is not necessarily 1 year, could be more then that like my case depends on judge's mood.

 

Your friend's bro probably wont get anything unless he's the pillion or stupidly admits that YES I lent my bro my bike. Just get the owner say the bro took it without his acknowledgment will do. Please tell your friend to write a mitigation(excuse) letter himself or get a cheap lawyer to draft it, it probably helps in reducing his sentence or fines.

Got caught in Campus at NUS cos my pillion didnt wear a helmet, we were going from hall to a nearby subway in campus and I got caught by the police. Helmet issue was let off, but apparently my insurance has expired for 11 days.

 

Now I know il get charged for a revoke of license, but is there anyway i can appeal to make it a suspension instead?

 

I just got my class 2 and I dont wanna retake all the frikin lesssons again.

 

Please help me im desperate. thanks

hmmm suspension less than 12 months then still ok. If more than 12 months means revoke, must take all your classes again.

What else can you do? You can always appeal. Doesn't mean TP or the judge will accept. But you can always try. It's your right.

 

Having said that I think you will find little sympathy here. Riding without insurance is a serious offence.

Disqualification for offences

42. —(1) A court before which a person is convicted of any offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle may, in any case except where otherwise expressly provided by this Act and shall, where so required by this Act, order him to be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for life or for such period as the court may think fit.

(2) Where a person (referred to in this section as the offender), is convicted of an offence under section 267B, 304, 304A, 323, 324, 325, 326, 341, 342, 350, 352, 426 or 427 of the Penal Code (Cap. 224) and —

(a) at the time of the commission of the offence the offender was the driver or was in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place;

(b) the person against whom the offence was committed was the driver of another vehicle on the road or public place, a passenger in that other vehicle or a pedestrian on the road or public place;

© the court convicting the offender of the offence is satisfied that the commission of the offence arose from or was connected with a dispute between the offender and that other person over the use of the road or public place; and

(d) having regard to the circumstances under which the offence was committed and the behaviour of the offender, the court is of the opinion that it is undesirable for the offender to continue to be allowed to drive a motor vehicle,

the court may, in addition to imposing on the offender the punishment provided for such offence, make an order disqualifying him from holding or obtaining a driving licence for life or for such period as the court may think fit.

(3) If the court thinks fit, any disqualification imposed under this section may be limited to the driving of a motor vehicle of the same class or description as the motor vehicle in relation to which the offence was committed.

(4) A person who, by virtue of an order of a court, is disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence may appeal against the order in the same manner as against a conviction, and the court may if it thinks fit, pending the appeal, suspend the operation of the order.

Man... Ive been tru tat thing. Once bitten twice shy. I get a stern warning for riding without valid insurance n not a sub rider... So guys treasure ur license man... After get caught from tp rd block, letter come within 2 weeks... Undergo investigation. After that wait for call.... Thats where u cannot sleep peacefully n eat n go out dating... Always in fear. But lucky i get a strict warning for tat. I promise myself not to ride without valid insurance ever again...
