thanks bro (= keen on rs003 or m5 =P

If you plan on only riding in dry weather, BT003RS is great. However, when it's wet, it sucks.

Have a look at April 2011 Bike Magazine here

(click on the magazine cover, then turn to page 117.)

Between the BT030Rs and M5, the M5 seems to be the better choice. Look here and here

But then again, you may have a problem with tyre size. RWr stock is 110/70 front and 140/60 rear. Most of us would have been using 150/60 rear because of the difficulty in getting 140/60s.

For M5, the only have 120/70-17 + 150/60-17 and they cost $329.00!

As our bike power is pretty low in the larger scheme of things, do you really need M5? Personally I think the performance of the BT090 is more than enough for our bikes. Plus they only cost $259. :)

just having the thoughs of m5.

i read reviews on bt003rs, seems that quite a number of people say its not bad in wet too. where did you get the infomations that if performs badly in wet conditions?

Roy! Got your bike already I see XD

YAYA! I can personally testify for metzeller. It is a darn good brand cause one of the delivery bike uses that tyre for the back only and it is darn grippy, even wet condition. You know when theres a road construction, they will lay a sheet of metal on the road temporarily? Most bike I used a go much slower while cornering or braking on top of it. But the one with metzeller tyre, I dare to go lower and brake harder.

see my post above. click on the link for bike magazine, page 117 of april issue. This is the findings of the professionals reviewing the tyre - wet grip no good.

A friend used both the 090 and 030 at the pasir gudang track. Wet grip from 090 is better.

there no need to use high end tires.

they r expensive n rwR cant use it's potential like high speed ('ZR' rating max >240kph) or even warm up the tire rubber to have good grip on the tarmac.

rwR can use for rear tire size 130/70-17 or 140/70-17.

size 150/60-17 might be too wide, thicker chain like 'X' or 'XW' might rub against the tire.

try bridgestone bt039 or bt045 with speed rating of 'H' (max speed 180kph) is good n cheaper (front+rear cost about S$200+).

i'm using bt045 on my rw.

u need to understand wat u r buying.

dont waste money just becoz of super spec, rwR cant use its full potential or even its minimum.

thanks for you C&C stsoh (= just... too tempting, but i do not think will go for m5 as it is too good for a under powered class. =P

Good advice, Soh! :thumb:

BTW, 150/60 rear tyres are ok for use on RWr. Won't rub.

For those who are interested, more info on tyre speed ratings and etc. can be found here

Change as soon as you can because:

1) Stock Swallow tyres lack grip in the wet.

2) Front and rear tyre performance are matched by the tyre manufacturers for overall performance specs.

From above 2 points, I guess you can imagine a situation when your rear tyre grips and your front doesn't; what will likely happen next?

Meanwhile, until you get the chance to change, do ride safely bro.
