FYI Osram bulbs need to a breakin period...after a few hours of usage only then will it be brighter....thats what I was told and what I experienced with Silverstars but Nitebreakers the breakin period is faster

after my "plug and snap" session early this morning,

Night Breaker indeed shines brighter and whiter than Silverstar...

you might wana get Night Breaker and try out for yourself...

Yep indeed,Night Breaker is brighter but too bad it was'nt in stock at the shop i bought it. Maybe when my dad, start itching to change his revo bulbs,i'll definitely switch mine too.

deviLLian - Oem serve the purpose but some riders just need abit more, especially those who like to travel NSHW during vamp/ponti hours. :D. Aiya now my hairs start to rise, since i'm going up KL later..Ciao!..

What the wattage of the bulbs?

I was thinking whether putting on 150w/100w bulbs will cao-tah any wiring or not.

Any bulb that is tinted restricted light throw...Is a fact...There is still no way the halogen bulb can produce white light (HID aside)...

dunno issit cos my meter face old liao, turn yellow. use white led, still looks abit yellowish.....

blue looks dull huh.. hmmm, so in page 2, indeed got some blue, looking abit faint... i think blue will be nice if its very bright ba, and thus more blue-ish, than the light blue one....

btw, anyone try changing meter face b4?

Posted

Bros any idea if Version S is acessible to change the lighting also??

Yes..it's accessible. You need to take off the back cover to gain access to it.

No matter what wattage or colours you use to get the brighness..its never satisfying when you want a adequately lighted meter just by replacing the current bulbs...you have to improvise.that is have more lightings place at strategic location...been there done that

wise words from the ah pek....

i experienced these after testing liao.. desparately wanting to know the cause of it being dim, i took my meter apart.......

and i realised... hmmm, maybe can put a led strip inside the meter? look at my picture, the red dotted circle..

http://lh6.ggpht.com/tyongzhen/SIykpNZVp_I/AAAAAAAAAlM/hc7sFWC5mKU/s400/meter.jpg

btw, look at the position of the LEDs for the meter bulbs.. its sort of blocked, so that the light are dispersed and rebound from the white surface of the meter. hence, more even lighting on the meter.

2 ways to improve the brightness..

1. i'm gonna try put led strip.. gonna ask Chris to a pair for me.

2. put aluminum foil inside to boost the reflection?

Posted

also.. for those who wanna know how to replace your meter's bulbs, heres an image after u take out the cover..

http://lh4.ggpht.com/tyongzhen/SIykoNnDd8I/AAAAAAAAAlI/9GEQwzceSF8/s400/IMG_0131.jpg

for my bike, spec1, remove the 2 allen keys bolts from the triangle holding the headlights.. (theres 2 side, so total, 4 bolts)

its not hard to miss. this triangle bracket, support both the meter and the headlight.

then, remove 3 significant screws from meter, left, right, center. n viola.. u see this image.

n the 2 black rubber, with the wire, take it out, replace the bulbs, test it, and put it back. must test, cos theres polarity differences on the bulbs.....

for me, i break away the plastic blocking/covering the bulb..

works great for me..

else, like what you say, get a T10 connector and solder it to a LED strip to place inside the speedo..

regarding putting alu foil, i suggest you buy those chrome stickers, they are quite thin actually..

i pasted them in my signal lights, tremendous improvements on lightings compared to the other side without..

yah. i cut the plastic blocking the lights off, and it is indeed brigher, but with it, comes uneven lighting. hence, im thinking of use led strips. think in short term, i wun be able to afford a vapor like u. haha. though i really wish for it. if not, i will get it!

btw, john, since u r not using your meter, can u lend me the face? i wanna try to do something with it.. wun spoil it. dont worry... though of customising some face...

would like to lend to you, but i got a pending sales next week..

would not be nice if i tell him the meter was loaned to someone for experiment.. very sorry..

if you plan doing anything to the face, J*zz Wh**ls is able to do it..

Vapor is not that ex, i heard those SM guys got it less than $200 without the indicators bracket.. i may need one new one for my new ride.. will search a cheaper deal and inform you..

Posted

hmmm. that will be good. but the indicator bracker only around USD$40 i think.... maybe i will buy online...

too much things to do on the bike. must slowly do...

do not get the lights so bright that it will blind your visual on the roads at night...
