Any bulb that is tinted restricted light throw...Is a fact...There is still no way the halogen bulb can produce white light (HID aside)...

 

this is a confirmation... but then, HID on s4 is illegal... :sianz:

 

maybe new model of S4 comes with HID?

, i'm still halfway doing a project on re-fabricating the meter dials...

my intention is to make the dials to show white (real white) text instead of the original yellowish text.

1/4 done already...

3/4 undone...

still hunting time to continue...

Osram Night Breaker looks good, nice effort

I'm currently using bulbs from Autobacs Pro series, IMHO its cheap and good. Costs ard $9.90.

Output is not entirely white though, should be close to those OSRAMs.

 

lasted me for few months and still going strong.

Maybe can trade bulbs to try out, since most bulbs come in pairs.

Use the osram silverstar, I believe this is good enough for NSHW n Singapore roads use.

its really sianz to turn over my meter face, n see the underneath being yellow.

hence, though of fabricating arcylic at bras basah with that as a base.

 

my idea is.....

get one piece of clear aryclic... or rather, those translucent type..

 

then, for face.. use vinyl sticker. can go sticker shops, design and print. like that, can happy happy change design. haa.

 

btw, s4vtec, can lend me your template? c if i can get time to do anot..

The colour is caused by heat from the original incandescent bulb. Any addition or too close can cause bubbling to the meter disc board. Leds are safe.

i did this for my CBR600 rr you need few things to make a best light speedo metter any color u want just u need is pci board can see in pic , flat small leds , one resistor , solding iron and some peace of wire , ya some thing to cut as well sharp i mean

 

just draw a circle on this board look the attach pics for items cut it off make it like C from inside and out side making a thin board which you can place under ur meter plate

 

then buy some small leds flat one sold them all up yes do buy the resistor you can ask that shop keeper from who u buying the led for it ... they come in diffrent color strips depends how many and how power led u using

 

dont use high power led , the less power and use approx 5 leds

 

for best results try to place the LED under the numbers use low power LED

 

 

 

 

 

 

result will be like all the mark bars glowing with same power n looks decent

I'm using Philips Vision Plus now. Not bad.

adding a strip of 6 LEDs inside the wall of each meter is good enough to ilum both the dials.

 

if you are wanting ur dials to look blue or red with colored leds,

this should not be a problem with the stock dials.

 

but if you are wanting the dials to look "white",

a re-fabricating of the dials have to be done which

includes the fabricating of the dial base using thin white acrylic...

(it's gonna be a lot of work)

 

go see those signboards at hawker center and u'll know what i mean...

 

my 2 cents...

 

my current setup per dial...

- 1X white T10 4SMT LEDs

- 1X white LED strip of 6 LEDs on inner wall of meter housing

 

results are - the white light thrown out by the LEDs gave a yellowish look on the dials as my dials are the stock ones...

i'm still hunting time to re-fabricate the dial base...

true. agree. i also want to have real white light on my led. not the yellowish tint. i dont think i want blue. but anyway, i will still wanna create a new white dial.

 

so, next time, want any colors also can. haha

 

maybe wan rainbow colors led also can.

 

1-4k rpm, white, 5-8k rpm, yellow, then blue, and red or pink.. u get the idea...

 

ok. anyway, i will think of ways to fabricate.... roughly got idea liao.

u can get the bulbs from Chris aka M400. u can check out MO section to look for him.

 

though mine's spec1.. shldnt be too different from ver R ba. u try abit first, if cannot, can contact me. then i can help u, if u come to cck.
