Same thing happen to me. Just changed my batt not too long ago too. Now not only no headlight, bike will die off while riding halfway and cant start thereafter. I think its the rectifier. Anyone got a more accurate diagnose?

You never say why you changed the battery in the first place so it is a guessing game as to why this new battery is suddenly dead. You also never say whether your bike is a electric start or kick start. If you want people to help you... you also must provide more background information about how the problem came about.

The alternator coils could be burnt and so the battery is not being charged while the engine is running.

The rectifier could be shorted so there is no charging even though the alternator coils are good.

The battery itself could be discharging due to some shorted wiring.

You could even be having loose battery connections.

Or you could have blown fuses... which means you got to find out what is causing them to blow coz somewhere is shorting.

Take the battery out and send it for charging. Once fully charged you should be able to start your bike.

You need to check to see if your battery is being charged when the engine is running. If it is not, it would be only a matter of time before the battery goes dead again.

And you may have thrown away a perfectly good battery coz the fault was not with the battery in the first place but rather the battery's charging system. Without fixing the charging system problem, you can change 1000 batteries and the problem of a dead battery will come 1000 times.

I believe u did not fully charge the batt b4 installing it rite ? During the 2 yrs of riding the FZ1 i did change at least 3 batt , it was onli until the 3rd change did ti realise tat one needs to fully charge the batt b4 using so as to prevent premature batt failure . Imagine i had an occasion in which i had to change the $200 batt onli after 6 mths usage .

Anyway , ur problem might abe a blown fuse too , or some loose connections . Or did u connect the + to the - ? .:cheeky:

No need to wait a few days.

If the battery charging system is not working... its dead within an hour of riding. The headlights and ignition system would have drained the battery.

most importantly check if ur charging rating is correct. fix a voltmeter or tap a voltmeter at ur batt. if it doest charge, its ur rectifier or coil. chort circuit batt too happens but very rare cases, usually bloated. change rectifier and batt first and if prob persist then ur coil.

first ting is to check ur headlight fuse..usually 15amp

bro.. i have charge my battery at bike shop 2 weeks ago, before charging when i press the brake level the rating at my voltmeter shows 9.0-10.5, after charging at bike shop back to normal press brake 11.9-12.,

after start bike voltmeter will show 12.2-.12.4, it's the same b4 charging my bike.. Now after observe for 2 weeks, it becomes around the same...

press brake around 11.2-11.9 any idea knows wat happen? when riding, it still charge at 14.0-14.2 but when on signal lights, volt meter will become 13.2-13.5 wat happen huh? Is there a possible due to battery spoilt?

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

dun compare it when ur braking. monitor it when ur revving the engine. my vtec last time uses a local rectifier which has the same charging like urs below 12.3v and is not correct. rectifier has the amount of current which allow to charge to ur batt frm ur stator coil. it seems ur charging aint correct or either u fix extra lights or malfunction electonics parts dat consume ur batt. what bike are u riding?

but base on ur reply..it seems its normal...are u riding small bike?? or either change to LED brake lights. they consume less power

yeah... riding KR150... Originally, after installing alarm, my volt meter shows normal voltage of 12.2-12.4 when start up, brake 11.8-12 on signal 11.7-11.9 while running 14.0-14.4,

but after sometime and I've DIY some leds, my volt meter begin to show weird voltage like 9.0-9.9 while on brake,no brake on engine 11.9-12.1, signal 10.1-10.5... So i become scare..

went to bike shop for a charged up... first 2-3 weeks back to normal.. but now seems like voltage going down again.. is it the battery going to die? or? FYI, my Leds positive is to ignition with a switch, negative to signal lights(does this have anything to do?) I only on one time per day to test it.. less den 10 seconds, I'll off it...

oh yea... lastly.. all my normal riding nv on signal or brake, voltage shows 13.9-14.1

more comments please... thanks...

the voltage is abit low, start up engine should be 13V and abit higher.

when your moving how much is the voltage of your voltmeter showing?

where is the voltmeter connected to?

you need to check your DIY or maybe your LED eat a too much battery already.

my frd kr also got tis kind of problem he changed a rectificer and its ok already:goodluck:
