theres a reason why 'hire purchase' is a topic in secondary school mathematics.

the difference is of course the interest.

the interest depends on the shop you go too.

you want to know, ask the shop, not this forum.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

You need to ask the bike shop what is the price without loan (full payment) and with loan.

May or may not be significant because some (bigger) bike shops may be able to provide the loan to you and they make the interest.

So if without loan, they earn lesser and the selling price go higher.

sheesshhhs. when i saw VS , i thought victoria secret.

my friend, basically bike shop want to earn interest from your business. if a brand new bike is 10000. you wish to pay lump sum. then you dont have to worry every month go to bike shop unless you pay giro then you have to make sure every month you got enough in your account or worse the bank dont over take your money. hehheheh

but say , you want to take loan. certain bike shop ONLY allow certain amount of loan.example : shop A allows 5k downpayment. so you take loan 5k. they give say 5% interest. so you want 5 years of loan. thus (5/100 x 5000) = 250 interest per year. times 5 years =$1250. so you pay (1250 plus 5000 ) divide 60 and so you pay 104 a month.

now you say suddenly leceh , go every month pay. after 2 years you want to pay all. be acknowledge many shop will ask you to pay early settlement fee. ok. enuff said

if cash payment i might worry about income taxes.

I pay all my bikes and cars with full cash just as many other bros here.

Why need to ever worry about income taxes as long as you pay accordingly.

dont be ridiculous. If you didnt do any wrong, dont need to worry when you hear a door knock at 3am.

Its a personal choice

if i cant afford to full cash, i dont buy.

keep life simple. Its only a bike/car

when i was about 27, i bought my first car in full cash, it was a 16yr old Mazda RX7. $24k. Love that car, although it drank petrol like mad, haha

I'm a bit different haha. I will save up so I have all the cash to buy the bike in full and set it aside. But still pay for the vehicle via installment.

This is so that I know I have enough to pay for it, but at the same time keep myself financially liquid in case of emergency when I need to use that money for something else like hospital bills or w/e.

i agree with you guys too! you will need the cash on hand in emergency cases. especially when your bike breaks down and you gotta pay for tow, pay the mechanic to re-life the bike, pay for parts, pay alternative transport during your bike downtime. just find a nice comfortable balance depending on your finances between installment amounts and cash on hand.
