Anyone riding DRZ400S?

Would appreciate if you can share the pro's & con's (in ur own opinion) abt this bike?

I dun think u can buy new DRZ400S anymore....mostly 2nd hand bikes produced since 2000 - 2002/3 latest I think

 

What you plan to do with the bike?...trail, transport, MX, motard ????....from there, easier to give a pro and con

For transport onli.......and probably motard (low chance cos dun wan to pay fine)

Then I would say the DRZ-S will be nice for you....relatively low maintenance (compare to the enduro models like KTM4, WR4,DRZ400-E), decent fuel consumption (better then the other 3 thumpers listed), and it comes with Electric start (better then WR4, XR4)

 

For pure transport, DRZ400S will sure meet your needs as compared to rest of the scramblers

get the sm instead since you using for transport & its already in motard trim...

DRZ400SM is street legal and approve by LTA....so confirm wun be fine unless u mod other things la

 

DRZ400S mod to motard wheels...maybe....but its jus rumour ba...anybody in SBF or SR or ur frenz kanna before????....for me, I nvr heard of ppl kanna fine for motard yet

Oops, didn't mk myself clear....I mean converting 'S' model to motard is illegal....(Hearsay onli, nv reali noe of anyone who kana b4)...

 

Another hearsay abt converting 'S' or 'E' model to motard is inspection sure FAIL!!

 

Think converting a 'S' model into motard is jus the same like converting a normal XR4 to a motard....I might be wrong though....but u noe lah, 'they' wan to summon, anything they also can say one lor!!!

but so far...has ur frens kanna before or any forum members?.....alot of hearsay etc but the truth?...for me, haven heard of my fren kanna fine or can't pass inspection becos they converted to motard....u might wanna check it out at supermoto.sg and see if any bro there kanna before....

 

Anyway, if for pure transport and wif a tight budget, a DRZ-S fits the bill nicely....if u got more money, can consider the new DRZ-SM and u get peace of mind of motard

So far none of my frens kana though I heard fr them...they also hear fr others lor.....

Will most likely go for the S model....

If budget constraint, maybe, will jus settle for DR350

 

Actually got three bikes in mind

1) DRZ400S

2) Dr350SE (Electric start)

3) Transalp 400 (I've got no class 2...so transalp or dominator, 700 or 650cc is out for me:dot: )

 

Any comments of the three in comparison?

hmm i gt a fren ridin the old S version of the drz..well i can say is pretty much powerful and it sounds where much better den the SM models now..as in for stock

Just stick to DRZ400S if I were u and ur needs are daily transport / city riding

 

There's plenty of parts for DRZ now and I'm sure for the next few more yrs even thou DRZ400S is almost 5-7yrs old......

 

DR350 or Transalp might have issue wif certain parts n its availabilty....if for transport, no point to park the bike at workshop waiting for parts to come....suddenly like handicap no bike.....unless its weekend bike then not tat bad

DRZ seems to be a more sound decision then.....

Although I quite like the outlook of a transalp (with fairing-sort of)....but I'm sure there are ways to 'do up' a DRZ to make it look like a 'tourer' : )

 

I've seen a a few XR done up like a tourer....think DRZ can be done so too...

Where can i purchase a DRZ400S in Singapore? I ask a few shop but they only bring in the motard version?

scout from forums......don't think u can get access to a brand new S model.....but their numbers are lesser then SM for sure so good luck hunting
