i tink hongkan already. No insurance no road tax. So the bike was ridden by someone else or you? either way u tio la.

If it was used by someone else, ask that person to say that the bike was ridden without ur permission. If not... not what kopi money, license kantong and kee court + heavy fines i tink.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Quoted form OneMotoring:

"Besides the late fee, the owner of a vehicle is also liable to be prosecuted for the offence of keeping or using the vehicle without a valid road tax under Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act. The offence carries a maximum fine of $2,000 upon conviction in court."

Maybe somehow you can provide some prove that you transported your bike over to your new address thru the moving company or some towing services.

VK74, got a question:

Do the insurance companies have some sort of clause that makes a vehicle/owner ineligible for coverage should he use a vehicle that's laid up -- but the necessary inspection cert, approved riding gear, correct riding conditions leading up to the accident are all in check?

It seems to me that road tax and insurance look like they're handled by different entities altogether - road tax being LTA, insurance being the companies themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong?

This may prove problematic if the bike is even gone for a day from its address for maintenance/planned repair works should the officer was to spot check.

did u just shifted it to your new house? If you did maybe you should let them know that you had "tow" it.

Even riders who ride their friend's bike w/o insurance can claim "i took it without his permission" to reduce the sentence from 2 licence gone to only 1.

Hope this helps, there's lots of loopholes out there you can spoof to save your butt and so lots of money so I hope this helps you, as I had lost some money and butt to the govt before and it didnt feel great, some people knows nothing but would just spout garbage or some who know something just wont help they prefer to pour cold water on you right on your face.

Who knows maybe singapore had a "company" to monitor what we're writing here. I better not discuss too much and good luck to your interview.

1. You need to read the fine print of your own policies. Does a laid up bike have insurance? Does the rider has licence? And does the rider has the right to ride that bike in the first place. And towing services is what $30-$80. Having a inspection cert only means the vehicle is viable, approved riding gear and correct riding conditions does not mean that the rider will not meet with a accident and hurt others & property.

2. Well yes, they are different entities, but LTA is the governing body, not the insurance company. Why is that a issue?

3. Why is it problematic if you have true records of your laid up bike being towed or pushed to a nearby bike shop for maintainance/servicing. You can easily ask that bike shop to provide you a receipt to explain why that vehicle is not in its place when officers came by to check.

that is an idealistic statement
