need RVF lao jiao to help.....

My front brake still feel spongy(i have already fix HEL brake hose , bleed, change the brake pump(the inside parts ) change pad............... how???

Was thinking to overhaul the caliper(change the all the piston and seal)

When riding then slowing down,i clutch in untill 1-2 gear time i blow the throttle, the sprocket and the chain got sound like knock like that.(i check the chain not tight)(its like i at very very slow speed then clutch in blow, the bike like want to move)

I just change clutch plate and new chain plus sprocket

If u dun understand wat i say can meet up i can explain.

did you change the clutch cable? it could be worn out. also, have you tightened the chain?

the 'tok' sound is sure to be there if you change gear from neutral to gear 1 thou..

new brake pads? it'll feel spongy for a while. or it could also be because the mech didnt bleed for you properly? if im not wrong.. the seals are around 20(+-) per caliper.. not sure how much ur gonna get charged for labour thou..

Hello Vtec

U remember me? i bought the arai visor from you.

ANyway..regardin the 'probs' u mentioned...

The brakes feeling spongy? well...its a little known fact that rvf brakes are not top notch unlike 1000cc bikes. The secret is maintaining them regularly. Since u change pads, bleed and pump liao, there is one thing u havent do that is to overhaul the brake calipers pistons (4 of them). take out and thorughly clean them and change the piston seals.

Most RVFs tend to have the outer pistons sieze (not compressing to squezze the disc) becoz dirt n water get inside there easily over time.

2nd, U say clutch in liao at slow speed and rev will have knockin sound...that is normal. Its actually the vibrations from the engine chasis transmitted thru to the chain. I ttried about 4 or 5 rvfs..all the same. If it bothers you alot, try tighten up the chain to the correct tightness ( 1 inch up, just able to touch lower part of swingarm), that will lessen the sound abit.

The Nc35 unlike other bikes have no cush drive, therefore u will tend to hear tuck tuck sounds and vibrations from the chain more so than other bikes. That is y also the NC35 tends to shorten chain life more than other bikes if u keep "flogging" her...

Try not to be too bothered with these little boo-boos and enjoy your rvf as much as u can. :cheer:

The Nc35 unlike other bikes have no cush drive

can u explain???

Yes its normal, so dun fret too much abt it.

I'm not a mechanical guy so i'll try to explain what is a cush drive in my own words.

A cush drive is located at the final drive of the bike (rvf dun have) i.e the final sprocket. It is essentially a assembly unit between the sprocket and the wheel hub assembly. The purpose of the cush drive assembly is to 'cushion' off the sudden engaging force of the clutch from directly reaching the sprocket. Typical cush drives have certain 'free play' in them to filter off these initial thugging forces of the chain whenever the gears are engaged or whenever u do a hard launching.

If you look at the exploded view of the RVF's final drive hub unit, you will notice there is no such unit. Our rear sprock is a direct mount on with no cush drive in between, therefore u will feel stronger thugs and alot more clacking noises as the driving forces of the chain are directly transmitted to the sprocket and chain (thus wearing them out faster).

That is why the OEM NC35 sprocket has rubber "cushes" in them while other 400ccs dun have. The rubber helps to dampen the driving forces abit but not as well as a full fledge cush drive. That is why also, its noiser if you use aftermarket sprockets like AFAM as they have no rubber cushes.

Try tightenin up the chain abit, the noise usually gets worse when the chain gets looser, nothing to worry about.

hahaha.... dun be too paranoid..all the noise and sounds u and filbert described is normal.

U should try riding around your carpark without helmet on, you'd be surprise how noisy the final drive of the bike is!

dun be surprise to hear new "sounds" espeically when your chain is getting loose.
