i was thinking, car have mob air intake to increase engine power and increase the life of the engine by allowing it to run cooler. how about bike? as s4 air intake is under the tank and taking in hot... look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_air_intake

i will be trying to DIY some thing to intake cold air...

You will have to seal the original intake holes, open another hole to direct fresh cold air into the air box. Water from rain will be a consideration. Take that into account when designing your C.A.I.

No need to check, your engine will still run at the same temperature.

The purpose of CAI is to direct cold air (which contains higher amount of oxygen per cm3) into your combustion chamber so that the combustion is more complete.

The most obvious benefit is slight improvement in fc and smoother engine.

Another improvement you can do is heat shielding between the air box and engine preferably between carburetor and engine block.

Btw ahsong, from the way your route the tube, wouldn't the air heat up on its way to the airbox?

The tube is just beside the engine block, not an optimal placement in my opinion.

Try to place the air intake tube such a way that it is as far away from heat source as possible.

Another way is to wrap the tube with heat shielding material. It will make any improvement even more obvious.

Please share with us how your ride feels after what you have done.:thumb: :thumb:

Since this thread is something to know,i would like to share with you guys some too(maybe some of you guys know these things already).

1. If you are using scott oiler and while on touring trip you lost the injector(the black plastic thing where the oil exits),you can replace it with "Yakult or Vitagen" drinking straw.

2. Never leave your low amount cashcard in the I.U unit overnight, the I.U will drain your battery juice, although its not much current draw but saves you from push starting the bike if currently you bike's battery is low.

Thats all right now maybe you guys can share more.... :)
