replaced clutch relay(was about to kaput), clutch cable(preventive), front sprocket(was not Suzuki type that should have rubber padding so not smooth ), fuel cock(was leaking petrol) and spark plug cap sets(water may go in when park in heavy rain) at guan hoe. total damage about $450.

Yea I too was wondering if I should replace the sparkplug caps, but I've never had issues when in the rain. Plus I always cover my bike when I'm not riding, so little chance for anything to get into places it shouldn't be.

$450 is quite an ok amount for stuff that will last for many more years to come :) so do you pop by Rangoon road for your parts then head down to auto bay for the mechanics to put it in? Or what?

Thanks man :) what do you mean a lucky bike?

the old spark plug cap could let water go in if park in heavy rain, so as long as you cover it is fine.

I ordered most in advance at guanhoe, only brought the clutch cable i got from KS motor separately.

When the fuel cock arrived from japan, guanhoe workshop called me to install all these.

they only charged $30 labour.

lucky bike as in career luck :)

Hi John, looking for some advice from your past experience.

Today when I rode my Impulse, it was fine the first 5 minutes and then I thought the exhaust sound different suddenly. To me, kind of like a hardly davidson exhaust. Not the loudness but it seems to be exhausting in 'pulse', even when on the PIE with the throttle open. It still got me to my company but notice the power is poor.

Back in december 2013, you also mentioned you had a lost of power and send it to the mechanic.

It was due to the spark plugs. Did you have the same sound from the exhaust?

Wow for real? That's cool! This Impulse opened my mind to the amazing world of big bikes. And $30 labour is damn cheap!

Anyways, what do you guys know about the Suzuki GS1000?

Hey! Yea it's sounds like its farting right? Yup! One sparkplug is dead. You can always spray water on the headers to find out which one is down, or you can just pop by Ah Chong.

Small issue no worries :) but it's best to not warm up the Impulse on side stand.

Thanks...

Yes, you describe it correctly, does sounds like farting.

By the way, where is Ah Chong?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bro... I got it fix at a bike shop in Ubi on Sat late morning.

It was the spark plugs, after replacing, my Impulse is good to go again.

4 piece @ $60.... expensive? I saw the boxes were marked YAMAHA.

Not sure if suitable and did not ask as I was in a hurry.

Hmm. Ah Chong put in original Suzuki Sparkplugs for my 100,000km servicing. Bike runs like a dream.

I guess just watch how it runs? Any excessive heat? Any issues starting?

I took a pic of the Sparkplugs-

No starting issue so far. I've not try riding for a long time yet, it's about 20 minutes to my office and the heat is OK.

According to the mechanic, the plugs he removed was #9. He mentioned that it should be avoided as they give a lot of heat.

I'll try to check the recommend plugs for Impulse, maybe I'll get a set & see what's the difference.

Hmm: would be interesting to see wht the manual says we should use. Do keep us updated!

I got a softcopy of a manual for a GSX400F. It could be compatible.

Attach is what is shows for Spark plug specs.

I think the Bandit would be a closer match to the Impulse.

To JJM15, I'm not a fire fighter but equipment (industrial) service engineer. Quite a few equipment decided to break down at the same time, so must 'fire fight' loh.

Hi byte77, you got it at $4 or $12?

If $12 x 4 = $48, then I think $60 is not too bad. He replace for me & makes $12.

But if you got it for $4 x 4 = $16, then I got slaughtered.

I see, haha very interesting! Anyways, I bumped into a young Indian guy on another Impulse! FN plated, with the stock red and black colour scheme. Totally by chance!

I had been under my block polishing and doing my own usual weekly 'servicing' of my Impulse, when I noticed a bike pull up nearby and stop at the kerb side. Same low rumble of the engine, stainless steel 4-1 exhaust and that lovely ducktail. I straight away went up to him and tada! Another Impulse was sitting in my carpark :D What are the odds?! His name is Michael and he say he knows the 2nd owner of my 868. So Byte, does that make you the 1st?

Anyways, here's a picture of my 868 just for the fun of it :)
