You can simply use wax for degreasing plus polishing. If the stain is stubbon, use a little petrol.

bike shops sell degreasers. Mustafa at

Serangoon sells them too.

try NTUC.. those degreaser for your stove!! works best and deosnt eat your paint.. LEMON smell somemore!!

Cheapest degreaser on market WATER AND LAUNDRY DETERGENT. Wet area, rub on detergent on oily, greasy marks, then hose off. Leave it on longer if its thick, either way it works well and you can easily do it on any grassy area as most detergents are now biodegradable.

 

additional benefit is that they are NOT Flammable, unlike kerosene, wont burn tyhe bejesus out of your eyes if you spill it.

What kind of degreaser is good if I wanna degrease and then spray paint the rim? I think many of the mentioned are oil based and paint wun stick. Advise pls! Thanks!

Depends on what sort of paint you will use on your rims, or if you are powder coating.

 

Start by cleaning your rims, the degreaser does not matter. Give them a final wipe down with cleaner IMMEDIATELY BEFORE PAINTING. Best to chek what will remove or thin your paint, you could use that.

 

White Spirits is commonly used, although I have also used Alcohol, Turpentine and others.

know wat i use for my filthy many-mths-never-wash rims? CIF ! yep. Formerly known as Jif.Cheap and good and u can also ask ur mum or wife to get an extra bottle for u. it's not that abrasive.impt thing is to use a non abrasive sponge to clean ur rims.Wet ur rims first n u can clean wth Cif 'neat' or 'on the rocks' i mean with awater.Believe me,the grime come off immediately.

Thing is I i dont wash my bike EVERY week. dats y i use it.Donno if it'll eventually rub off the paint if u do it every week.Never tried.my rims are gold colour.After the grime is gone u'll have an easier time to wash them rims every week.Good luck

Can try GT85. Leaves a layer of Teflon to further help repel dirt. Alot of degreasers and solvents can eat away the paint on the rims. GT85 is safe.

yeah, was washing my bike yesterday then i realised the rims are super greasy and my car wash shampoo doesn't really work. now i know of so many alternatives le, WD-40 also can use? won't eat into the paint ah? good good, shall try that next time. :smile:

No, it wont.

 

I've been using WD-40 for a couple of years on my WR200, GSXR400, DRZ4 and now my Ninja.

 

Spray onto rag and wipe off those stubborn stains on your fairing. Finish the job with turtle wax.

 

 

They are affordable and effective degreasers especially more so if water is not really convenient for you to use.

 

GT85, I had just bought it yesternight from Bikeworkz.

 

It does not smell any different from WD40 to me.

 

So is it really safe to use on the O-rings?

 

The PTFE element was a huge attraction to me though henceforth the reason why I got it. Yet to try it.

 

 

For your tanks, fairings, beneath the pillion seat or at the pillion sides where you get lotsa chainlubes, Turtle Wax never go wrong. Fact, it was even more effective than WD40 due to its soft compound.

 

For your rims, yeah WD40 or GT85 would be good really.

 

But please, try not to spray directly on your rims. Spray it over a cloth. Chances of these mist attacking your brakedisc is something you won't have the balls for.

 

Imagine PTFE on your disc.

 

So play safe, spray onto cloth and wipe away. And wipe any excess off the rims. Never underestimate the whirlpool of centrifugal forces
