need some help here...

right now my bike is behaving strangely:

while riding, i discover that the speedo and rev meter did one round as in when you just turn on the key switch, i also notice that the voltage drop to 6-8 volts and go back to over 13 volts again....after a while it drop again and the meter does the sweep again over a few times. my clock also resetted by itself.

is this a sign of a weak battery or something else like rectifire, coil, alternator problem? the bike also cut itself out while i was riding....:(

need some input here.

wat's the voltage reading?

1 - key on only

2 - idling

3 - riding?

 

if no. 3 voltage is constant, most prob yr charging system is fine.

LEAF departure is B`cos of WIND pursit or TREE didn't ask her to stay?

First of all....when this thing happen...pray hard that its actually your volt meter is spoilt...

 

Double confirm with Multimeter.

 

If same...then its probably goes to main suspect. Coil, magneto rectifier...

check the battery and eletrical connection....somethings is lose:dot:

this is confirm not normal.

to troubleshoot (from the cheapest), usually is to start from the batt.

 

if u have a multi-meter, connect it to batt during idling to compare the voltage shown on yr volt-meter.

Try to check your battery connection. Sounds like something is not properly connected.

Hey bro smokin.... Ur prob is normal . U must check from ur batt then ur rectifier. Then check on ur coil, then check on ur magnector. I have gone through tis prob b4. The way u explain that ur screen reset I guess it's ur coil & magnector. It's very costly if tis 2 probs.. Be prepare $$$$.

I am tempted to buy Vstorm 650. However, my friend commented that the main frame of V storm is hollow. If the bike encounter accident, the frame will crack more easily than other bike and not possible to repair thereafter. It has to scrap eventually. I wonder how true it is? Can anyone help to advice please??

Yah. I think u shdnt buy a Vstrom also.

 

Go buy a bike with solid main frame.

Just happen to see more vstroms on the road.

 

Was it khaitronic I saw on the opposite side of PIE at around 7am on Sat morning? Dark vstrom with Alu top box and wearing yellow jacket.

 

I was with my wife on our way to Air Papan for a short spin with a friend.

 

Later in the afternoon around 4pm on PIE, saw a yellow vee also with Alu top box. Rider in berms and with ponytail I think. Aerosmith? I was driving in a car.
