wow ! u guys are getting me worried with my ride Yes, I'm having alot of doubts if I made the right choice to get a used one. Where can I get my bike to do a overall checks on the soundness of the bike?

 

To name a few of my findings which I felt weird when riding:

1) ticking sounds when I ride and stop at traffic light, but the sound cease when I parked and leave the engine on.

2) The engine seem to wobble alot when I throttle up at 2nd gear from slow speed.

 

Any where I can ride another vstorm to certain myself that its normal?

2nd) Do u mean vibrate? if vibrate... guess its normal and might be u are not used to it... but if it really wobble...then... something is not right....

 

Just to add on... Rectifier and Magneto have always been the main problem for Vee owner... but usually its only happen once during ur ownership of the bike lah...

do a check with a multimetre to see your voltage with your engine on , at idle, at 3k rpm and off , it should be about 13.5 , 14.5 and 12.5 +- 0.5

This is my take coz mine have the same symptoms too.

1. The ticking sound might be from the tappet i think. Maybe adjust the valve clearance? My still has the sound so I'll be DIYing my clearance soon.

2. Might be your cone bearing IF your HANDLING wobbling. Since your engine wobbling I thinking is it the case of your engine surging when u throttle up slowly??? If yes i think TBS and TPS will do the trick?? Or u can adjust the idling then wack on the highway to decarbon... That's what I'll do.

 

P.s Try ask K N T or your fav mech to fix the permanent vacuum tubing so u can adjust the TBS yourself next time...
