Go SAF e-mart buy a haversack and bungee cord with your credits and strap your stuff on the rear rack or seat. Its quite practical if you don't mind carring your helmet around and don't pillion.

Hahah. That's a nice one...

I really need some advice on my DL650 ABS brake issue.

Recently the rear brake was not working properly when I applied brake. Send for repair and was told that the ABS hydrolic pump was not working. The new pump cost was SGD2000+! (@Guan hoe) but Ah Teck, the sparepart man adviced me to get 2nd opinion before I buy for replacement.

Anyone ever experiance this issue previously? Maybe someone know where to service the ABS hydrolic pump? As I was told the pump is serviceable and very very rare that replacement is necessary.

Many thanks for your valuable input!

Can u describe in what way your rear brake is not working? Do you have the brake 'fading' when you apply rear brakes? ie there is braking power initially but fades off and the brake lever seems to depress further but no added braking power? Could be master cylinder issue. You can try rebuilding the master cycylinder with new pump kit seals and piston. Make sure your mechanic knows how to bleed the brakes for ABS brakes coz it's quite a pain to do it right. Read up on advrider or VSRI forums on Vstrom 650 ABS brake bleeding.

Yes, I have the brake 'fading' when apply rear brakes. Initially no braking power but after depress the brake lever further then braking power can be felt but insufficient for safety reason. Gone thru on advrider/VSRI forums on Vstrom 650 ABS brake bleeding and maybe I need to full rebuild the front/rear brake system as safety issue is crucial here.

Anyone can suggest reliable mechanic or workshop for rebuild full braking system?

Guan Hoe (Agent) should be able to do the job but they may have a reason to diagnose it as faulty ABS unit. Some of us here will suggest KnT (Clifford) who is quite familiar with vstroms. I did my front brake rebuild at AHM (Ah Hong) at Autobay. My vstrom was the 1st he did and I didn't mind him experimenting as I know him. He knows Guan Hoe's mechanic and has access to service manuals. I had to leave my bike there for a few days. He's honest and upfront with me that he has not done it before but is resourceful and will check reliable sources and troubleshoot properly. Its your choice on who you are more comfortable with and gives you confidence.

Thank you for the tips. I may experiment riding w/o ABS for time being. So far need more focus not like with ABS. Frankly, it is like refresher riding course and a challenge for more focus! But if not because of the bloody $cost$, I definitely preferred ride with ABS!
