Recommended Battery Charger

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a batter/ charger for motorbike 12V battery? I never ride my bike for sometime and the battery is flat. I dun wanna bring battery to mechame to change cos it takes time and it will happen often. Best if I can charge @ home. When searching in overseas website the Yuasa battery charger costs like $40. Anyone knows a bike shop that sells this locally or even a similar product? thanks

When it comes to bikes, I only see red…

At the moment, the shop is out of stock of the Vanson model. I checked this 2 weeks ago. He said it will only be coming in in November.

i know little abt bikes. let's say my bike rectifier is not working (my bike is phantom 150). Could a battery charger replace a rectifier? tks

That's what I did.

While I was waiting for my rectifier to come, took out the battery at the end of the week to manually charge it

Charger can be bought at basement of Sim Lim Tower.

Not too sure of availability now though.

Vanson brand. Pretty good charger is an understatement. :cheer:

Could be. It should be supplying out 13-15v when revved.

Mine was supplying 12v-13v max when it was "partially" spoiled.

When the new one was fixed on, it was supplying 13v-15v when revved.

Use a voltmeter to check the output of the rectfier.

To be sure, check the alternator is supplying the correct AC voltage according to your manual, then check the regulator for the voltage.

I am testing a new class of battery chargers - this pocket size Ctek XS800 ( onli 500 grames ) - will charge in 10-20mins & never over charge your battery. It also comes wif a extra battery cord tt allows u to charge your battery without ever removing it from your bike.

Cheers .................

interesting... but wad is the price that we are looking at?

Will it be more expensive than the Vanson ones?

Given its multiple features, it seems that it will definitely be more expensive i guess.

The CTEK XS3600 is a 3 stage(capacity) charger but the CTEK XS7000 is the charge tt can also recondition your battery as well.

CTEK chargers will fully charge your battery & trickle charge when your battery is fully charge.

Don't think too hard about it. You don't need a reason.

It mean when u short the positive and negative polarity together and the charger exceeded it's allowable rated current, there is a short circuit protection in the charger pulling it to '0' amp. Protecting the battery charger.

The Vanson has that short protection feature too. I am a very satisfied user of the Vanson, using it for 2 yrs+. Just leave it on and forget about it, no worries of overcharging or shorts. Can't beat the price :thumb:

I think the CTEK ppl built a 1 way diode into the system & only allows current to flow 1 way - thus they cannot short-circuit as there is no current passing thru if

connection of polarity is wrong.
