The ERP gantries are not a standard feature in the maps ie. Malsing or jerome. However, the ERP gantries are subsequently added as Point of Interest (POI). So if you have ERP POI loaded, it will prompt you whenever you are near one.

This prompting is based on proximity, so if you are traveling in the other direction, it will still prompt you on the ERP gantry although you are not passing under one.

There are other POIs such as Speed Camera, speed limit...etc

:)

Garmin 60csx is better, IMO cause it is water proof, although the screen is smaller then 6110.

Hey Demon

Any recommendations of which online vendor to buy from? Or do you buy it from ebay?

It depends which model you are looking at. For car GPS, these retailers' prices are hard to beat :

http://www.coolasia.net

http://www.eastgear.com/shop/index.php?currency=SGD

But they don't sell handheld GPS like 60CSx or Etrex Vista, Legend...etc

For handhelds, Perfect Watch (Authorised Dealer) has the best range. Generally their prices are about 10 - 20% higher than those parallel imported sets.

US is dumping the 60CSx after the Colorado was launched, most online retailers are selling them below SGD400 (before shipping, and GST). In Singapore, the best price for the 60CSx is about SGD540. So after factoring the shipping, and GST, the uncertainty of delivery and anxiety of waiting, I would rather buy locally.

i have no problem getting from anywhere in the world as long as I can test the unit before buying.

The cheapest 60CSx is in Sim Lim Tower right?

There are few shops selling 60CSx in Sim Lim Tower. The only authorised dealer is Hoan Enterprise at #01-13.

Blazer at #B1-17 is a parallel importer, is also very competitive in their prices. Last posted by Mr hat that the set was being sold at SGD535.00.

Do they include maps in it? What's the warranty like?

The 60CSx does not come loaded with maps. However Singapore, and East/West Malaysia can be downloaded free from malsingmaps.com, and then uploaded to the GPS.

Unfortunately both coolasia and eastgear don't carry zumo, according to their website product page. I did some homework and came up with the following prices for Zumo 550 retailers in S'pore. Prices are without additional Garmin Singapore/Malaysia maps (which I won't buy since Murphy says they're crap).

Allbright - $1233

Perfect Watch - $1299

Sea-Land Sports - $1400

Hoan Enterprise - ??

Tecomart - $1050 (will even download malsingmap for you for free)

Of course I'm thinking of buying from Tecomart, any feedback from bros here about this shop? PM me if necessary, thanks!

Allow me to clarify Murphy's posting which I miss out earlier.

Malsingmaps, and Jerome's map are from the same source. Jerome maps have more details such as graphic presentation of HDB blocks, and buildings. So with Jerome's maps you are able to see on the display the block numbers.

Other features mentioned by Murphy such as Speed trap POI and many others POI. ERP POI can also be enabled in malsingmaps but you need to manually download the POI files and upload them into your GPS.

And I do agree with Murphy that garmin maps of Singapore and Malaysia are not worth it's price.

hi

I just bought a GPSmap 60CSx. How do i contribute maps and update the maps??

I am installed the GM-MySin.exe.

http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1345

Here are two examples between the "Free", and "Locked" version.

The free version is good enough for Singapore but you will want the "locked' version for Malaysia as the difference is really significant.

At Sedili - Free Version

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/udaloy/Sedili-1.jpg

Locked Version

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/udaloy/Sedili.jpg

The bridge makes a world of difference if you want to head to Mersing

From KLIA to KLCC - Free Version

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/udaloy/KLIA1.jpg

Locked version

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/udaloy/KLIA.jpg

Entire stretch of new highway (in yellow) is missing. This new stretch of highway makes driving from KLIA to KLCC much much easier. Although the distance saved may be small, less than 10km, but the traveling time is reduced substantially, at least 30 mins under best traffic condition.

Agree, Jerome map and malsing is the same becos SG maps are create by jerome.

y would i recommend a zumo is becos of the functions it has. Bluetooth function for ur handphone. u can ans ur call when u r ridng.

It come with a water proof Certification of IPX7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code. So no worry on heavy rain.

Another review is of zumo 550 is the signal strength. For example, drivin in through tunnel, the signal will be gone but gd things is GPS is still routing in the tunnel. Compare to other models, it will jus stay there till u have signal. after the coming out from the tunnel, the signal will be back again without waiting. Signal reception is very strong.

also you can pump in mp3 into ur memory card. So during touring, u can listen to yours songs.

Garmin Zumo 550 has a GPS accuracy of 0 to 10m. so far in my usuage i nvr saw it hit more 10m. normally i get 4 to 5m.

the ex change rate is about USD1 to SGD2.3

Thus USD 20 will result in abt SGD50+

USD 1 is equal to S$1.365 or there about. Say 1.4 times

USD 20 will be S$28 or there about.

Paypal doesn't use the exchange rate provided by your friendly neighborhood money changer. It has got to find a way to make some profits from a supposedly free service right?

If you are in Singapore, you can email Jerome for his DBS account, so you can transfer in SGD. Correct me if i am wrong.

Paypal only uses USD, any conversion to local currency is done by your credit card to which the paypal is linked.

Yes, to be precise, to his POSB account.

Not too sure about that, maybe there are different payment configurations....

for me when i make payment via paypal in any currency, paypal will show me exactly how much will that transaction will be in SGD, and i noticed that their rate is always f-up.
