This is really puzzling ... hope someone with authority can enlighten me ...

In Johor Bahru custom, they have automated lanes for malaysian motorcyclist to automatically and speedily cleared custom. For foreign motorcyclists including those from singapore we must use the manual lanes to be inspected and manually cleared. This I can understand, afterall it is own citizen first and foreigners cannot be trusted.

In Singapore custom, we also have automated lanes. But this automated lanes are for foreign motorcyclists including those from malaysian. They are automatically and speedily cleared. But for own singapore motorcyclists we are subjected to manual clearance and have to remove helmet to be face-inspected.

This is very puzzling .... why? Are foreign motorcyclists more trusted than singaporean? Is foreign citizen first and singapore citizen second? It can't be singapore is behind in IT compared to malaysia, afterall we have automated lanes here also ... but just not for singaporean ... I can be wrong, I may be missing on some important information ... and I really hope someone, hopefully someone with authority can enlighten me and many others who share this same puzzlement ....

I work for ICA in-regards to the Automatic Clearance System, and I can say that Singaporean are able to use the automated lane to cross to and from Singapore. The reason some wanted to use the manual counter are

- fingerprint is worn out and the automated lane are unable to verify it

- guarantee sure pass as a officer manually verify your information

The underline is, Singaporean are able to use the Automated lane UNLESS if a officer verbally stop you from using the Automated lane for who knows what is the reason.

You can politely ask them if it comes to that point.
