Casio,

You did a custom rack? Cool man. :shades: I will pay you a visit

someday since Upper Thomson is quite near to Serangoon.

Anyway, is Seng Kwang in AMK? I think I heard before they did

a lot of customised parts. Maybe can ask them to make Engine

guard for XJR. I am guessing my motortiam is going to ask them

to make a set for me, but my motortiam is quoting me over $200!!

Dunno lah, I am having the thought that my motortiam is trying to

rip me off. Can I find out the address of Seng Kwang from you so

as to maybe go down myself to check out the price?

By the way, where do you service your bike?

Thanks man.

Drumx,

Can pay me a visit anytime. But got to let you know that i'll be away travelling starting tomorrow till 16 Sep. So, avoid this period.

Yep.. i did the custom rack with Seng Kwang. It took me 4 hours to have it installed on the bike. Solid stuff. You can call either Gilbert (97859166), William (97567080) or Wilson (96785040). They are brothers. Here's the address

10 Ang Mo Kio Ind Park 2a

#05-31

AMK Autopoint

Engine guard sounds a good idea but i didn't have it installed.

I go back to agent for servicing.

Maybe that is how we are suppose to handle the rust.

Heh heh,

Btw Chaicka,

Need to ask you something. I did a oil change when I reach my first

500km. Is it recommended to do a change when i reach 1000km or just

at 3000km as stated by the "coupon" booklet.

Anyway, at which mileage did you change to full syn oil? at how many km?

Thanks for the tip!

I love to ride my bicycle, I love to ride my bike.

Well, up to individual...

For me, I changed every 500km for the first 2000km, then 700km for the next two oil change....Now, I am still trying out different brand of engine oil and how it performs (in terms of optimal mileage before oil degrades too much) before I will stick to 1 and use for longer mileage.

So far, run-in best still Elf mineral-based engine oil....better than Shell one...excellent performance and quality. I have tried Elf Semi-Sync 10W40 engine oil, cannot make it. Too lean for both hot and cold rides, when it's overheating due to traffic conditions (like stopping at too many traffic lights along short distance), the gear becomes very hard to engage and changing of gear become a problem and dangerous affair.

Motul 5100 15W50, cannot make it oso. Too fast wear out its properties, performance not that good as gear changing abit louder than all the previous engine oil I used. Only thing good wif Motul 5100 15W50 is that morning start engine, 1 time sure to start without engine dying off.

Rock Oil Synthesis 4, 15W50, good but mileage before oil degrades oso not very good. I used for about 700km and can start to feel the oil degrades too much liao...

Will be trying out Elf 10W50 and Elf 10W60 fully sync later. Motul 300V would be on the list too, but it's abit too expensive to be used as normal street travelling oil, unless I can find better source for it.

Yup....that's me.

So that was really u huh....coz I recall u mentioned urs have the blue linings design. Cool plate too...kekeke.

The alarm is Cheetah Alarm sold @ MotorX, no autostart function coz I dun want my CDI to be fried....kekeke. But it's cool enuf with the alarm. Think it's quite sensitive to my satisfaction.

Did u check out my butt? Oh...my XJR's butt?

Notice that the Yamaha wording is Reflective? The original sticker is removeable easily, and you can head down to MotorX to get the reflective replacement. Size is juz nice coz it's done by measurement of mine as sample...kekeke.

Notice the side http://www.singaporebikes.com black background, grey/silver wording stickers? Cool hor....kekeke. Sold @ MotorX too...kekeke.

Btw, I am arranging for the import of Yamaha original engine guard next month. Not sure if u r interested since it's not cheap...>S$200 with installation. Let me know...

Let's meet up one of these days...got so much to share.

Does anyone knows what are the original colours of a 1996/97 XJR400R? I am looking for a black one...

Posted

Does anyone knows how much is the new tank of the current XJR 400R cost? The new rear fairing? The side plates? The mud guard? I'm think of something strange now.... heheheh......

Posted

Tempting ah Chaicka, tempting....

All the modifications... I had the thought of installing autostart alarm,

but dunno lah... Dunno where to look for it in Singapore also.

Eh, no need to see your butt lah, i not gay leh :faint:

hahahahahahahaha....

Will check out MotorX for the reflective stickers

Anyway, about the engine guard. I have mentioned in the thread before.

I asked for customed made ones by my motortiam as he got

"connections" with Seng Kwang. Cost over $200 at least.

I will probably settle with the original ones, if really originals lah.

Been wanting to go to Seng Kwang and ask them if possible to construct

the following ones which I found on the web and maybe get cheaper price.

Include me in the purchase list if really buying, maybe make another

confirmation in future. More ppl buying better too loh,

I love to ride my bicycle, I love to ride my bike.

If a Seng Kwang constructed engine guard oso >S$200, I might as well get the original Yamaha one. You may want to check out Y's Gear website. They are the accessories division of Yamaha and has alot of original accessories for Yamaha bikes. Unfortunately, our XJR400R quite limited leh, oni found the engine guard interesting...

Trust me lah, dun get those auto-start alarm. No use oni, and risk burning ur CDI. Furthermore, it's fanciful at the beginning, but after awhile, u wun even use it that often. LAB has one model wif auto-start. But warn u first, it fried the CDI of a phantom b4. Furthermore, it is not recommended to ride without the key coz if the fuse of the auto-start blows while u r riding, not sure what is gonna happen to u and ur bike.

Well, once my funds come in, I will most likely be going ahead bit by bit with all my Japan-imports.....Lotz of goodies available there for XJR400R.

U wanna mod a S4 to look like a XJR huh?! :pity:

:D :D :D

For info, a 96/97 XJR400 ain't going to look the same as those newer models 2000 and onwards. The exhaust is different, the gauges are different. Other internal differences, not too sure.

Heh heh, I had my eyes on it as well....cool stuff!

Dun forget to inform the rest if you are planning to get it in personally.

Anyway, I dun intend to get the Yoshimura one...

I oredi have wif me an ilum (blue) volt meter. Planning to get the oil temp meter wif the necessary alterations on the oil radiator tubings from Japan in a couple of months time (waiting for funds to come in).

Keep in touch...

I going to pay deposit for the original Yamaha engine guard for XJR400R next month, on the 6th October or around that date. Wanna join me? Hope if we can get a few together, we can lower down the price.

Nay, me not interested in S4...no way a S4 can be a XJR.

Not just the exhaust, major difference also includes the tail light design. Anyway, I'm more interested in whether is it possible to make a 96 XJR into a 03 XJR, rather than really going to do it (the price can kill).

Anyway, just realize that the 96/97 XJR400R got 5 colours - silver, white, dark blue, read, black. Does anyone here owns a 96 black XJR?

I think should be able to...since the bodyframe should be the same.

Hmmm...not sure but to the best of my knowledge, those who posted so far are mostly '00 onwards XJR.

It really depends on how u view "maintenance"...

In terms of engine oil, every change requires oni 2 litres/bottles compared to S4 3 litres/bottles. Spark plug, same 4 but price of XJR spark plug may be slightly more expensive than those used on S4. S4 has coolant which requires a change annually, while XJR does not.
