Personally for me, every other engine oil change.

Preferance may vary with other XJRers.

for me, i change my oil filter for every 3 oil changes. plus minus lah. Additionally, i do oil change for every 5000km travelled.

and eversince i had my bike (almost 4years).. i never had to change my brake pads. The original ones really lasts super long. ;)

speaking about oil,

what kind of oil suitable oil for XJR400?

i planned to use Shell VSX 10w40...is it ok?

is it must be 10w40, can I fill 10w50 or 20w50?

2L? That is really little for a 400cc bike.

How often need to change the oil filter?

Its little becos

1. its uses oil to lubricate the whole engine

2. its oil cooled, so thus the above.

use a 10w-40 is the best. no particular brand.

change of EO may vary from one rider to another.

what I do is, a change on monthly basis OR I keep it between 30-40 days of every oil change to another.

As XJR depended solely on EO for lubrication, I ensure that my EO is not stretched beyond the said days OR not more than 2 months.

Anyway, its just 2 Litres....so why not spoilt the bike with better grades of EO or change your EO periodically.

And on OIL Filters? I change it every 3 months...OR if there is a trip coming up, i will change EO & Oil Filters upon my return back to Spore.

Love my bike, therefore, i wanna give it the best care that i can provide!

That is one memorable ride, Martin.

Its great! I am ashamed to say that as a sporean, i have not been to any farm here till yesterday. The Goat Farm was among my many 'first time' yesterday.

The ride was smooth & fun. The tea session was a surprised but I am thankful for a birthday celebration at the Studio Apartment, surrounded by the Club members just made it all sweeter.

Thanks all.

Thanks Martin for a great well planned ride.

Thanks Kelly for the tea. Tell Louisa the cookies is nice. And thank you for the German Cake too! Another first for me!

And for all XJRers who came & sung my bday song for me, I am touched & will remember this for times to come.

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

How easy is it to get XJR parts? I am thinking of getting one for my daily commuting thus reliability and cost efficiency is paramount.

I believe brandnew XJR is no longer available. Need to get 2nd hand. is this true?

Thanks.

Parts are available at various Yamaha suppliers.

A few shops around the Jalan Besar / Desker Road vicinity to name a few.

Contrary to popular belief, parts are not that scarce.

It's true that there are no brand new XJR 400R but the 1300 is still in production.

But I believe you're looking at a 400cc one.

Don't mind me asking, why considering an XJR?

I will pretend that you asked me that question! :cheeky:

Well, firstly it is a Yamaha. Secondly, it is air-cooled. Thridly, its 400cc. Fourth, is something different than the rest. Fifth, it looks stocky, big and bulky and will match my body size. It's just an interesting bike. :thumb:
