TPS is throttle position sensor...hardly spoil.

I suggest you check your crank case pressure..if it is difficult to do, get a pressure relief cap..and see what happen, before you spend big money again...

My guess is that your cooling system is down..so the whole engine heat built up and inturn lead to pressure build up...that is why you found all the leak..and then engine stall.....

Check the pressure to varify pressure build up...if this is the case...check cooling to cure it...

Thanks bro,

for one, let me welcome you onboard the rare yamaha XJR400RR. WelcoME to XJR Singapore(2007-2012). (find us @FB Club XJR Singapore)

before having your clutch plates/steel plates check, try engine oil Motul 300V(a little pricey at betw S$28-30++) but is known to be smooth by XJR users here.

personally, i used to use 7100 Motul for years & at times when my pocket allows it then, the 300v.

or you could have a good trusty mech to have a look in at your clutch plates, (or perhaps first of all, try adjusting your clutch cables?)

its a good bike with little mechanical problems, one that i rode for 7-8 years from 2004-2011, before selling it off to a fellow XJR Sgp member & a friend, in late 2011.

no regrets & lotsa satisfaction ride. one that remained closed to the heart, always.

hope the suggestion here helps.

Ride safe, corner deep.

Thanks xjrredbull...I will take your advice on the Motul 300V EO first and feedback.

Welcome back to ride..

to answer to you:

1) First check you shift level and liknkage..was it loosen, or any ware off sign? Level should be firm and and smooth (lubricate)...ware off level and linkage always provide insufficient throw that nessary to engage and disengage clutch...

2) Is your clutch hydraulic? if yes check clutch fluid, bleed if too old..or any leak on clutch pump, check pump seal replace if necessary..I believe this is the main issue.

3) If you mileage is more than 120k...go and get you clutch plate check...this should be the final stage.

Thanks ooitn for the reply... my bike was bought from a friendly mechanic and we checked the shift level and serviced the gear linkages, all are smooth and good. Bike mileage is only approx. 45K and the gearing was my only complaint when I had her in May 2012, the others looks good and well maintained for a 2003 YOM bike. We had planned to go back for service and then feedback on what other issues for him to rectify. I had only ridden her for less than 400km since and think a change of EO is needed. Will try xjrredbull Motul 300V suggestion and maybe have a check on the clutch plates etc..,

Don't forget there's an oil filter for 2a and 2...

Try to add 100ml EO more than what Spec call for..this help in cooling especially for old engine.

Yes bro he cheat me, I have to find good mech and clean and tune carb should be ok bro :)

you should seek second opinion. sorry to say but you mech dunno whats the cause and ask you change this and that but still doesnt solve the prob.

in my time with my XJR, even a good mechanic turned bad, over foul advices. not only they compared the XJR directly to another readily available bike, they often make 'assumptions or knee jerk reactions answers once too many'.

not ez to find a trustworthy mech worth the $$$ spent, but we always have to try nevertheless.

the truth is' no one put the gun on our head to buy that bike, its can be a decision that may rue your day, but if you can see the light at the end of it, its worth every single time you ride your bike. yup, she was that good, to me.

Serviced bike today with Maxima Extra EO instead as the shop don't carry Motul EO. The other choice was Mobil One.

Am glad the gear shifting is better now but maybe because the oil is still fresh. Will monitor and hope to try Motul the next time to compare.

Last time My bike also same when I start low RPM bike OFF, then idle sound is bit noisy but riding smooth and good pick up

Then I check with my mechanic he said XJR sound like that because Natural air cooling bike, then he tune carburetor air screw to make stable the low idle. Now idle run is ok,

If ur bike stall for same low idle u ask the mechanic tune the air screw,

Then ur timing chain noisy, don't worry about this because timing chain didn't make big issue. Don't spent money for it :)
