huh...can hold brake lever meh?? but will be peanalised for incorrect posture leh...i got bad habit of putting my left foot between the gear lever and footpeg...then oso will be peanalised for incorrect posture...sibei boliao one....i thought as long we comfortable then ok liao..then somemore my feet long...if put my foot above the gear..my leg ankle will be very stiff...need to force its way up...like coo coo jiao steam like that...then wat if i accidently kick the gear down...isn't it more dangerous...

dun worry.. they wun penalise....just hold onto the brake...negotiate the whole s-course wif the brake on.. its perfectly fine...n dun put ur feet in between the peg and the gear lever... cos when u doing the first turn will end up feet scraping the ground... my habit also.. then first lesson so dangerous.. almost sprained my feet cos my leg always scrape the ground.. then i learn to put it on the gear lever...no prob one.. if u scared then put ur toes on the foot peg... then u wun accidentally kick to neutral or first gear...no such thing will happen one lah.. if nt how u pass ur 2B??

Anyone noes what is the best rpm for XJR400R?

Dunno the exact term to use....but every bike as a point (rpm) whereby it is at its optimal performance yet not over-stressing the bike.

should be around 6 k rite?? cos most bikes all the optimal performance all around there....

Believe it happens to most of the Yammy's IL4 engines, asked the mechanics @ HL n concluded that the sounds come from an inperfect valve clearance height....Tot mine was loud until i heard an new XJR FW8XXX plater whose sound was even louder... For the Fazers, i dont seem to notice that irritating sound....

This prob can be solved by adjusting the valve clearance by tightening it.....However a side effect would be a slight loss of power... Also they mentioned that the "metallic sounding" of the engine is a trait of Yammy's.

Cheers

Yamaha makes no STs..... i was the one riding an XJ but w/o the R.....

Anyway how's the 'tick' sound from his engine? still as loud?? also at a certain rpm,jus b4 the rev smoothens out, does the sound gets real loud, like a loose screw in engine?? Mine certainly does n its getting irritating, perhaps when i change to a better engine oil things will get quiet down n bec smoother.

Cheers.

if ur friend cannot tahan, bring it back to HL workshop to adjust the valve clearance height........ procedure wont take more than a few hours....

also it may be bec the timing chain is slightly misaligned(unlikely) or tension is loose due to hard riding during run in..... anyway HL gives a 10000km or 3mth warranty......so no worries......
