Today I passed the first yellow box outside the bus bay. I was surprised because I didn't see the signboard 100 metres before the bus stop like the papers said. I saw the little triangle, which I feel is pretty small. As it was at night, I wonder if I missed the signboard. Personally I'm concerned that if I brake to a stop before the box and the rear vehicle fails to brake due to inattention or following too closely, I will end up flying onto the yellow box with the bus rolling out. I hope LTA monitors 'casualties" from their pro-bus policy. It will only be a matter of time before someone using the phone or arguing in the car fails to stop and rear end others.

Also, I wonder what is the enforcement officer's definition of bus exiting. Is a bus inching out slightly without signal lights on counted?

At the driving centre, we do e-braking at 40+ to 50km/h in that short stretch of tarmac. Is that, plus a little bit of leeway (say 10 metres), supposed to be the distance we are expected to brake in time?

What if someone, say a driver in a heavy vehicle, tails me closely and I choose not to stop at the yellow box but horn to alert the bus driver. Is my only recourse an appeal, which most likely will not be accepted? Must the risk be taken by other commuters, expecially bikers before the bus bay?

Bikers, air your views?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

i have raised this in the rally point too.

Shin Min Daily reported grouses of drivers and riders for some horribly designed short turning. With this compulsory yellow box, it is just going to make matter worse:

1. how much space left is for the turning? chk out the notorious turning at SIR Building.

2. what will happen if there are several buses in the bay? wait for all to turn out?? this is going to be terrible jam all the way.

personally i feel that the compulsary stop thingy is a cat n mouse thing. how dow u define a bus is exiting n when to stop? lta feels that most drivers r not giving way to bus n thus enforce this compulsary rule. for now i'll just avoid the left most lane if necessary, what to do, u dont follow law, u get fined.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

you will then see drivers and riders forcefully change lane to right lane when they approach this area.

just another plan to suck our money

I like the concept of the bus bay yellow box, because it means fewer bus lanes.

However, the three potential dangers now make me hesitate:

1. May not stop in time when bus moves out.

2. After stopping in time, vehicle behind you may bang into you.

3. When if you're in the second lane, the vehicle in the third lane may lane change to avoid the bus and bang into you.
