Throwing Cigarattes on Roads

It is an offence if road users throw their cigarattes on the roads?

 

I mean when driving or riding...... Not stationary....

 

Cos yesterday when i was at PIE heading towards TUAS got 1 driver just throw the cigaratte butt while it is still got flame of light on it!!!!!!!

 

N i was lucky enough to siam it before it hits me....

 

Actually tis is not a first time i encounter tis....

 

Once a driver throw the cigaratte butt n hit my face..... Lucky i put on the visor..... If not my face got scar oredi....

 

Worse than tat if hit my eyes....

 

So is it an offence if road users throw their cigarattes on the roads?

i think i've heard before that it is an offence to throw the cigarattes out of their car as it may endanger other road users......

Yes it is an offence to litter, even on a vehicle.

 

From NEA Website:

First-time littering offenders, who discard minor litter such as sweet wrappers, cigarette butts, parking coupon tabs and others improperly, can be compounded for $200. Repeat littering offenders and first-time offenders who throw larger items such as plastic bags, food wrappers, drink cups and more will be sent to court where they may be imposed with a Corrective Work Order (CWO). The CWO will require them to carry out public cleansing works for a maximum duration of 12 hours and/or a fine not exceeding $1,000.

I tink smokers out there do take note of the consequences tat u hv to take if u smoke n just throw it on the roads while the flame is still there.....

even if the butt is extinguished, u are still liable to be charged if caught littering

dun jus say cigarette butt, even the ashes can also do harm if a rider is not wearing visor and the ashes jus hit his eyes and that rider somehow loses control and crash. happens to me once except i didnt lose control and crash.

Bikes with no clutch can really helps to save you time. Eating and drinking while riding. Dun be surprised to see they brush their teeth while riding.

was told by a fren that used to be in police that even riding and smoking itself is already a "pre-offence"(if there's such a thing) for littering and can be immediately stopped if NEA occifers see you... as we have no place to throw the butts.

 

driving and smoking not an offence as most cars have some form of ash tray...

Taken some cabs which you enter only got strong ciggies smell. Driving while smoking not so bad. The one that requires more concern is riders smoking while riding. They think its very cool ar ? -.-
