Unhappy Tevez says 'goodbye' to United

By Soccernet staff

May 10, 2009

Argentina forward Carlos Tevez admitted he expects to leave Manchester United in the summer.

The on-loan 25-year-old feels he has not been treated as ''one of the family'' at Old Trafford and claims the club have made no attempt to sign him long term - but insisted he wants to stay in England.

He told the News of the World: ''I am very sad about this but I guess what I'm saying is goodbye.

''I don't think I will be a Manchester United player next season. I have done everything I possibly can but they have never made me an offer or given me a contract so I have to leave.

''I think I will be at another club next season. I have not been treated as a member of the family. I do not feel wanted. I feel bad over my situation, I do, but it's very, very difficult to stay any longer.

''The fans treat me like family but United have not signed me so they do not respect me as a footballer.''

Tevez feels his form has been good this season but has been frustrated at not being considered a first-team regular by Sir Alex Ferguson.

''Things have changed dramatically this season,'' he said. ''I was dropped - yet I didn't perform badly. Sir Alex never gave me an explanation but I never asked him for one because it is not in my character.

''I accepted it but maybe Sir Alex didn't feel the same way about me. Maybe he didn't have confidence in me any more.''

Tevez stressed he was settled in England and would have no qualms about joining one of United's big rivals.

He said: ''It's not true my family are unhappy in England. It's not true I want to leave England for Spain. My four-year-old daughter Florencia is learning English and my wife is very happy living in England.

''We want to stay. I want to play in England because it is the best League in the world and it suits my style.

''Any club I join, whether it be Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool or Everton, will be a rival of Manchester United. I would like to thank the United fans for their support. They will always have a special place in my heart.

''If I was a United fan I wouldn't want to see their player in any other shirt but I think they will accept I've done everything I can.''

Wow. And he even said he wouldnt mind joining rival clubs. If Tevez indeed leaves, I doubt Fergie will let Berbatov go. Same goes to Ronaldo. As for replacements, any suggestions Eugene?

I think Fergie's words can trust lah. Unless Park gets himself injured. Plus Fergie only say he is guranteed a place, never say as sub or starting 11.

:) well you cannot be sure until the team sheet is out. But i think he will be in because Barce is not physical as cheski.

Fergie will deliver his words. his not lying unless Park is injured.

Ahmad Latiff culd b a fine replacement for Tevez. :faint: did u guys watch Latiff score a beautiful goal last match. he volley outside the penalty box.

Life is like a shooting star, it don't matter who you are,

If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time.. :thumb:

Prefer Fandi Ahmad. I remember seeing his last match, bicycle kick outside the box and score... the power and accuracy is deadly.

Surprisingly comfortable win....

And the reds go marching on on on!

You know I didn't even realise that arsenal and chelsea were playing each other until I checked the tv timings this morning. Barely any hype or news about the game...

Actually the thing that is holding Man Utd from is the asking price of Jabooobeiran (whatever his spelling is lah). Man Utd always had indicated that they want to take Tevez long term provided the price is right.

Eugene will definitely shoot back that if SAF can convince the board to fork out huge money for Berbatov, why not Tevez? Well, I have no idea why also. Hehehe

tevez is way hardworking than berbatov, but he is not the type of player who reads united style of play, he tends to bring the ball back and slow the pace of united's game, though i still prefer him than berbatov.

oh well.....what ever the outcome whether he goes or not, i dont really care.

united's best striker was always wayne rooney. ! :)

But Van Nistlerooy need a croser like Beckham. He is more to in the box striker while Rooney is diff. thou we miss Van Nistlerooy.

thats the whole idea.. rVn can finish off watever crosses that comes to him.. besides, isnt it good if both strikers have different styles from each other?

I wouldnt say that he is the best, but I would not swap him for anyone else in the world at the moment. Not many strikers can adapt playing wide and not complain.

imagine rooney and van nistlerooy during his prime.. damn..

Rooney and RVN?? OMG!!!

Yes, I call RVN the "anyhow as long as goal" king. Left foot, right foot, header, chesting, kneeing. U name it he does it.

Its always good but not only style matters. Chemistry also. Look at Shearer and Sutton (Blackburn) or Shearer and Ferdinand (Newcastle). Both are similar style pairing but they were deadly.

Or Van-Goal!!

No lah, its widely known that you're a Tevez fan and anti-Berba.

They got 3 days to appeal decision....

Hope he gets to play...he is an asset...

Even though we got a strong enough squad to rotate..

Under such circumstances I doubt UEFA are going to relent.

Personally I feel this is absolutely dumb on UEFA's part. All the screaming about video evidence during a game, yet know they cannot overrule a decision based on video evidence after the game. What sense does it make? Defeats the purpose of having such technology in the first place.

I understand that this is to uphold the dignity and respect of referees. By in the UCL semis, both have proved imcompetant. Yet UEFA failed to implement any constructive changes. Such a shame.
