ok, here's the story.

just because of a simple forgetting to put Cashcard in my IU Unit.

a fine of $10 was imposed. normal.

 

i thought i paid it, because i pay via AXS with all my handphone bills and all.

After 1 month plus , another letter came with a $70 fine. Saying that i have not paid my fine and require to pay withint 28 days.

 

within the next few days, i paid via Ibanking. which i'm sure of.

and i was just surfing around and i went the the LTA site and just to check my bike information. They said i have not paid my $70 fine and the due date is over!

I checked my ibanking and there are no record of any $70 paying to LTA.

 

most probably i might have miss one 'confirm' button or something.

 

Anyone help? does this mean a SURE court case? i'm require to attend on 30 MARCH 2009. They does not allow me the pay online because it has expired.

my fren's been thru the same kinda situation but minus the ibanking part.what he did was to check back on his records if there was any payment of $10(better if u could remember the date u paid) n if there is call up axs n ask em for a record of that transaction so that u are safe

Do u s till hv the receipt for the ones tat u hv paid? Hp bills etc?

if you cannot dig out the proof that you have paid or at least attempted to but it failed, its best you just LL pay the $200 fine..

Just to share my experience, not about traffic summons but about SAM machines, once i top up my gf's Top up card via SAM machine, receipts all issued. But the card value showed that i didnt top up at all.

 

Called the number and starhub they said no records found, even the receipt number also not in their database. It wasnt a big amount so eventually they just top the value through their own system. So.. receipt must keep!

At least if TS is sure he made payment, he can confidently challenge either the AXS top up or Ibanking top up which did not go through. But since TS is unsure himself, and given that the onus is on the offender to ensure the fine is paid on time, the most practical recourse now is to pay the $200. Its not that there are no other alternatives, but how is anyone going to start off an appeal saying "i have no evidence to back my claim; i'm not even sure whether i paid up."

He is not in a position to challenge it because there are no records of him having paid the fine both within AXS and IBanking, since according to what he wrote, he may have forgotten to pay that bill, then he may have forgotten to click on 'Confirm'.

 

Yes, for Ibanking, sometimes the payment is unsuccessful due to DBS internal system error or user error.

 

And the judge will not accept the reason of forgetfulness or negligence. Plead guilty and accept the fine, since you said a court date has already been set. G'luck!

I encountered a similar situation before. I moved house and changed my address on my identity card a few weeks after. Out of the blue, i received a court case letter for parking fine but with a compound fine of $200 if I settle within the stipulated date. But that date too has expired so i called up HDB and was told to come see the officer. I did and they told me the best they cud do to help is for me to just pay the $200 fine and don't need to go to court. So in your case, you better have a very good reason to back you up.

very sorry to learn abt your predictament bro. Is the case still compoundable?

IMO, you shud pay the fine first if it's within your means as a court fine will be much heftier ( that's what i know)

 

If you do not wish to pay up 70 bux in wan shot, you can call up LTA and discuss the payment terms with them. They will be happy to entertain your request so long as you pay up. It's money they are interested in.
