I just bought a new Aprilia RS 125 '06 from this particular dealer on 5/5/07 (just 2 days ago) and I've been encountering problems with the bike since then. I'm not exactly the most experienced Aprilia rider so I'd appreciate if someone (who is not from the dealer) could give me some advice with some of the problems I'm facing, namely:

1. Very rough, "spluttery" acceleration from standstill (1st gear) with a tendency for the engine to stall, unless I rev very high. It does not feel smooth at all, totally unlike what I thought a brand new Italian sport bike would feel like. Even the driving centre's training bikes feel a lot smoother when accelerating from 0 km/h. I don't expect high torque and a super fast launch - just a smooth acceleration.

2. Back signal light fell out from housing. (Remember this is supposedly a brand new bike - more on that later).

I went back to the shop just yesterday morning and cited these problems and I got my signal light fixed. What is frustrating for me is that they insisted that the 1st issue with the rough acceleration in first gear to be a normal "Aprilia 2-stroke engine" thing, and they can't do anything to "fix" that. Is this really what I should expect from the RS 125? Since I'm quite a new rider and lack experience with aprilia bikes, I'm hoping to get another point of view that is not from one the guys from the shop.

3. Engine just gave out yesterday and would not start at all in the middle of traffic. I ruled out the basic stuff, ie, fuel level, choke, kill switch etc.

Got it towed it back to the shop yesterday night for repairs today and will be collecting it later. Sigh.

A bit of background on my bike:

I went in to the shop with the understanding that I was buying a brand new Aprilia RS 125 '06 - but I got the showroom model that was on display instead and they neglected to tell me that. I found out when I saw that the mileage started from about 100 km already and the showroom model missing when I went back on the first day for repairs. In any case, they admitted that it was the showroom model they gave me.

Seriously though, I'm an easy-going guy and I don't think I would have minded if there weren't any serious problems. Now of course it's a different story and I'm starting to feel really pissed off. I mean, this is just the second day since I bought it and the damn thing costs a lot of money.

So how would you guys deal with this situation?

Thanks, but I don't think it's an option to go to another dealer since I have a service warranty with the original dealer.

I don't like the idea of paying to fix problems that should not have been there in the first place.

FYI, I'm definitely not a rich "kid" (I wish I was though :) ). I work damn hard to afford the things I like.

its Aprilia. not Aprillia. and any bike will be a problematic bike if u dun take good care of it. so stop believing in hear-says unless u own one urself. cheers.

Okay here's what I wanted to ask all you Aprilia RS 125 riders:

Does accelerating from STANDSTILL (with 1st gear engaged, no pillion, flat road) at 3k-4k rpm supposed to feel rough, choppy and "weak"?

Does it have a tendency for the engine to die if you are not ultra precise with the clutch?

no if u have a properly tuned carb.

Maybe this thread is a more appropriate place to post my question.

I just bought my Aprilia 2 days ago and it feels less smooth than even the driving center's training bikes. The worrying thing is that the mechanics at the place where I bought my bike insists that this is a normal thing for the RS 125 - basically "need to run-in" and all that crap.

Would really appreciate an informed reply. Thanks
