Hello there,

nice to have you here with us!

I never had this problem with my bike when I bought it. And no, it has nothing to do with the wiring. With regard to maintenance and servicing, everyone has their own opinion of shops and service quality, so I would leave that judgement to yourself. However, since you have a new bike, I would suggest that you bring it back to whichever shop you bought it from. They would have a service package for you somehow if I am not wrong.

You should only bring it to another shop AFTER that service package is over. My bike was giving me about 31km/l when I got it out of the shop. If you have not touched anything on your bike, I would say that a brand new bike should be getting about 25km/l at least. Fuel consumption varies between bikes and rider's riding styles.

And no, your fuel consumption will not increase after your run-in unless you are riding very aggressively after the run-in period.

Like I mentioned in my last post, do try to join us for our DIY sessions to learn more.

Seraph

ok ok thx a lot bro!!!

Seraph,

the way u talk sound very familar and since you are my age. Any chance i met you b4 in OCS?

OCS?

Well, I have been to OCS a few times to conduct weapon maintenance courses. If you're thinking that you met me in there as a cadet or something, then it must be someone else. =p

Either that, or you must have met me sometime in Ayer Rajah camp when the cadets came over for the maintenance courses as well.

seraphx, what 2t and 4t you recommend?

Uh.. Would that be for you or your bike?

For you, I don't recommend that you drink any.

For your bike, it all depends on what you are comfortable with. I am currently using Silkolene Comp 2 Plus for my 2T, and I don't use 4T for my bike. I use gear oil. Silkolene SRG75.

Different people have different preferences, so, if you just wanna stick to something someone is familiar with, you can try what I am using. If you're a little more adventurous and wanna explore your options, you may find out from others what they are using and you may wanna try it yourself.

Well, 4T would usually be termed as 4-stroke oil. A 4-stroke oil usually runs thru and lubricates the engine, gearbox, and clutch.

Our gear oil however, does not run thru the engine at all. It just lubricates the gearbox and the clutch. These oils are usually specially engineered for this purpose and are slightly different from the composition of 4-stroke oils.

However, this does not mean that you can't use 4T for our bike. It's just more dense and makes it feel as if your bike is heavier and less responsive.

Or at least, that is what I understand from the information that I gathered.

If there are any other oil experts reading this, perhaps you would like to share your views too?

so does it mean that for our engine oil,we can use 4T however using gear-oil would be much better?..

Rightfully, our bikes should be using gear oil. Not engine oil.

Engine oil = 4T.

lol...thats a very wide range you giving him..

Well, its true what. Few factors play a part,

1)How long has the bike been around - 1 to 10 year?

2)The condition of it - shagged to not shagged?

3)The owners view of the condition of it - he thinks he took good care of it?

4)The owner overhauled and changed almost every part - worth?

Thats what i think buyers have on their minds :cheeky:

In my opinion, the range is actually very much wider depending upon the date of registration of the bike, and the condition it is in.

I have seen Aprilia's being sold at 1k, but in VERY bad condition, and very new Aprilia's being sold at about 8.5k.

So, I would have given him a MUCH wider range.

We have a member in here who actually deal's with Aprilia's. If you're really interested in purchasing one, perhaps you could look him up after you have done your homework and really decided that you want to have an Aprilia?

His nick is Sub-Zero. Please, do NOT trouble him with your newbie questions as he gets quite irritated by answering them time and time again. You can direct your questions to me or to anyone else on this forum who may be in the mood to give you some advice.

PM him when you have made your decision.
