Coming back late is not an issue for me for as long as I can learn and get more information and tips about the bike and if there's someone who can pick me up and send me home safely after. I can meet up the kind rider who's willing to pick me up at Paya Lebar MRT too - I think that'd be easier..

I have given it a thought, thus dun want to buy right away.. Want to wait and be extremely sure if this is the bike i want and if I can really afford it.. So perhaps I'll wait till October and might drag till December.. but confirm getting 2nd hand, 1st hand a bit off the budget uh..

remember to bring ur helmet and copy down the h/p number from the meetup list just call anyone of us, we will sent someone to fetch u from the mrt station . . . don't worry about the going back part cos those living near by ur place will sent u back . . .

Saw alot of brand new Spain No. 1 replica out there. Think it will suit you good (but note all restricted). You wanna buy Honda Phantom TA200? I selling at the end of the Year.

Are you guys talking from personal experience specifically with the stock RS 125 '06/'07 model? Because those models come with a 28mm carburettor compared to the older models' 34mm and it made a significant difference to my ride, amongst other issues (like not optimally tuned etc).

I can guarantee you that the lack of torque at low revs with a stock RS 125 '06/'07 is severe enough that you will have problems accelerating upslope from standstill (like the one at Sixth Ave) with anything less than 5-6K RPMs, no matter how you tune the bugger. If you expect to move off in such a scenario at low revs, say 3-4K RPM, then good luck. This is even worse if you happen to be carrying a pillion.

I've also got other people with '06 bikes asking me what I did to solve the problem, presumably since they have the same problem on their machines. I replied that I sent my bike to a good mechanic for proper tuning (slightly lean) and other modifications, mainly a switch from the stock 28mm carb to a 34mm one. Even my mechanic when he test rode initially had commented that my bike is "for expert rider" (said half in jest). It really does take a bit of getting used to for a beginner.

Of course, it's a different story now after all those tweaks. Great performance now even at low RPMs (although I get a bit of knocking at certain RPMs because of the high compression ratio which is alleviated somewhat by making the mixture richer but that's another story).

Hi bro . . . from wat u have mention above it seems like u have not been travelling in correct gear . . . true . . . rs125 is high rev bike due to the displacement and the gear ratio, our true power comes after 6k but if u have been travelling in correct gear there shouldn't be any reason u can't go up a slope smoothly . . . bro u don't expect ur bike to have great power if u r travelling only 20km/h, in 3 gear and going up steep slope rite . . . if u need to down ur gear u have to down ur gear, if not u will only be wasting fuel . . . I have rode a stock bike before I know how a stock bike feels there and then . . .

for a stock bike with 28mm carb there is only very little u can do cos due to the venturi size the amount of air suck it is limited and if the jet u put in is too big then instead of more power u will experience blog due to too much fuel and lack of air which cause incomplete combustion . . . waste fuel . . . one can just take out the sponge fronm the air box which most of us do to slightly improve the air flow . . . but still its a 28mm . . . for 34mm the venturi size is increase more air can be suck in so u can use a bigger jet and the combustion will be more complete, together with more fuel u will have more torque at the low and mid rev range . . . but still if u jet it too rich the same blog will happen . . . .

34mm carb its stock for only extrema and the very first batch of replica only . . . the rest onwards all 28mm carb . . . I am riding a rs125 sbk '04 so the stock carb is only 28mm carb . . .

As I know nuts.. I dun really know what to ask except, what to look out for? What are the do's and dont's...

I intend to get 2nd hand, and i dun want to end up being cheated.. How to know if the bike is still in good condition?

How much is reasonable for a second hand? How much is 1st hand?

Any shops to recommend? How much is the monthly servicing? How much should I expect to spend every month if i get this bike?

Thanks in advance!

I guess the price for a second hand '06/'07 (you won't find many) varies with mileage, modifications, repairs etc. I personally wouldn't pay more than 6K for a well-maintained second hand stock model with a reasonably low mileage.

A brand new one from Mah costs about 12-13K depending on age etc. Btw, Mah is the only Aprilia dealer in Singapore so if you want a brand new one you will have to get it from them.

As for what to look out for beyond the obvious stuff like mileage and fairing damages, you should also check to see if the bike is serviced regularly and if there are any modifications or repairs done and why. You can even ask what kind of 2T or gear oil or petrol is being used. The answers will give hints as to whether the owner treats his bike properly.

I don't think you read my statement right. I said from standstill on a relatively steep slope (like the one at Sixth Ave) at low revs, say 3-4K RPM. And on first gear (obviously). The resulting extreme bogginess is just a fact. That's not to say that the RS 125 "sucks" or anything, it's just a characteristic of race replicas like these to have more power at the high-end, which I think beginners need to get used to.

bro . . . if like that then u didn't apply wat u learn from the driving school to use . . . how r u suppose to move off from slope? rev up rite? so don't say about rs125 if I give u bbdc bike u also got problem moving off or climbing slope . . . . u r suppose to rev up high . . . now its u don't get me rite . . . don't u think its the same as u travel 20km/h but use 4 gear on a straight road . . . u don't expect that u stop at slope then from 1k+ rev u move up rite . . . . or u r moving in from some direction then u want to climb slope, u sure speed up then move up rite . . . cos when u speed up ur rev will goes up higher . . . in either way u still sure have to rev up . . . any other bike also the same . . .

any bike is the same when u r new to the bike u have to get use to the bike be it rs125 or any other bike cos the sitting position, the braking power and the handling of the bike is completely new to the new user . . . every bike is design and built to function in different way is only up to the user to get use to it . . .

I nvr said in any of my post u said that rs125 "suck" or no good . . . I know wat u mean . . . just that I am trying to explain to u and the rest reading only instead of letting some post mislead other forumers . . . no offends . . .
