Price is what you pay.

Value is what you think you are getting for what you are paying for.

It's really very hard to tell you what price is a 'good price'.

But if you feel it's reasonable, and worth your money, buy it.

I personally don't mind spending a little more if something is worth that little extra to me. But to someone else, it wont be worth it. Very subjective. In the end, be happy with your purchase, and leave no room for regrets. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.

Just don't let the sales staff persuade you with 'freebies' like free full-face helmet, raincoat, 1-yr free warranty/servicing etc. All these are nonsense meant to 'sweeten the deal'. Take everything with a pinch of salt.

Trust me. I was in advertising. I know how to make people spend money they havent made on things they dont need.

Good luck! And happy bike shopping! :thumb:

Thx lac. Prolly wise to bring an experienced rider along with me to talk it out with the salesman yea?

Never believe anything you hear. Only believe HALF of what you see.

"done up the bike nicely" - I nearly died ROFLMAO

That is very true. An Aprillia is a fantastic bike in an abundant number of ways, inclusive of the benefits you get from owning such a bike, performance, exclusitivity etc, but still, KNOW what you're getting into before you get one.

This is not a bike for the weak minded/cheap solution/sure easy to maintain minded.

Most importantly, parts are considerably more expensive than that of other bikes. E.g. If your suspension is shot (from my knowledge) getting a brand new replacement will set you aside a minimum of $700 (for a bitubo, not sure how much the stock suspension costs to replace, but i would advise against it).

Brittle Power valves, carburettor issues, piston jams, tuning issues (the infamous 5-6k dip, cylinder expansion and replacement pistons, power derestriction (power cut), replacement aesthetic parts (fairings etc) are all EXTREMELY POWERFUL DISSUASIVE factors, so please, know what you're getting into.

But just a few pointers though. Test the suspension by sitting on the bike, and 'bounce' on the seat, if the suspension absorbs the impact without continuously bouncing up and down, like say it bounces once then stops bobbing up and down, the suspension should still be okay.

Listen for sounds when you get on and off the bike.

Look at the mileage, its an '03 model, therefore its 6 years old. Mine's an '03 model and my mileage is currently 35,000km , but of course don't expect to get fantastically low mileage like mine :p

Start the bike, after it's warmed up for a while, say at least 3 minutes, do a sudden 'WHACK' of the throttle from closed position to FULL WIDE OPEN THROTTLE for like a split second. At this point, you're not looking for how much noise the bike makes, how it sounds like at 12000 rpm etc.

What you're looking for here is whether the engine dies. If the engine dies immediately upon this test, it could mean a couple things, but most probably the piston has low compression, and therefore it would need to be replaced. (since you're viewing the bike at the bike shop, obviously you can't test ride the bike, but it should be okay for you to ask them to do a compression test on the engine)

If i remember correctly (lacri, aaron or whoever i think i might need your input on this) I think the 'acceptable' compression range should be around 110-130PSI, if it's more than that, say 150, its too high. If its below 100, its low.

This could also mean that the carburettor air/fuel ratio is very rich (which is the safe side) but you're gonna be spending more time cleaning (carbs) than actually riding the bike.

Well that's my 2 cents. I sure haven't posted in the forum here for QUITE A BLOODY WHILE.

Cheers, ride safe.

yes, about 7 years.

well, depending on your race and budget, I can recommend a few areas.

areas such as st leonard, artamon, north syd, neutral bay, ryde, manly, bondi, rose bay, diamond bay, double bay have very nice homes, apts.

mostly with LUG so u can park your rsv next to your gallardo and have a good nights sleep. :p

hi, i'm looking around for a 2b bike, and this RS125 caught my eye. if it's just used for normal commuting purposes, is it too expensive an option? how much is it going for now (the older models)?

i'm considering krr and rs125, but krr looks quite aged and doesnt sound as good as rs125!

for commuting purposes i suggest getting a 4 stroke as a 2 stroke requires more maintainence and care ... U'll get more fuel comsumption also for a 4 stroke ... but if finance isint a issue then go get a bite on a 2 stroke bike irregardless of any bike .. we havta be cautious of every muni spent also u noe due to economy .. haha .. For now , i got 2 bikes .. 4 stroke and an aprilia ... coz if either bike breaks down , ive got another to spare but i usually use my 4 stroke bike for commuting now ... but neva will i neglect my aprilia .. later i see tear drops would appear at my headlights ... haha Edited by WawanAprilia

I've been hearing low resale value ever since I started telling friends that I wanna get that bike. But frankly speaking, how low is low? Anyways, I took a casual stroll at Bukit Merah in the evening. Out of so many shops, I only see 1 Spains No1 bike right in the middle of the whole row of shops. Didnt even ask if it has an owner or not as I was there to look around abit before I head back.
