Help, my bike can't start, need to push start :sian:... hope any aprilia bros/sis can pinpoint e cause...thx...

cannot electric start? Must be the starter motor spoil... If it's repairable, u just need to change the brush or carbon, cost between $70 - $100. If can't be repaired, have to replace, not sure how much that'd cost...

it never even have the cranking sound when you restart your bike. could be batt weak.

during my idling, the batt stays at around 11.5+.. i always rev abit to let it recharge at more then 12v before i cut off the engine.

maybe you can try cutting off your engine at 12v+ and see if can restart your bike again? hope it can help you. thats all i can think of now :)

You can find those answer with Proz proz in here > Lacrimosae,Macan_putih,Aaron,Edwin & more more.

I only can pinpoint a few like>

1> Batt lifespan finish soon?

2> Rectifier(spoil) not charging shown in your video?

3> Starter motor> brushing finish(dont think so)

4> Starter motor KO> Jam it cant crank it keep showing cold after each start? sometimes can start some time cant> thought brushing finish but maybe not>(I have these problems before)> brushing $55 at Rac*werk(last time i change the price)(ask FM before ah seng say no do dont know real or not.

5> Money> need that For Starter motor> Find second useable at FM & MR Edwin (offical spareparts man in here) or others having?

Cant > Take $7++.++ go MAH buy new one.

6> The End > if any wrong in here pls dont find me> Just a noobie on bike infor. Thanks.

insaint,

You've got most of it right, probable causes are dead battery, dead rectifier (stabilizer), starter motor carbon brushes, or a defective starter motor. Another could be a bad connection with the starter motor- check wiring.

Starter motor is about $700 brand new, so make sure its not the other possible causes first before getting a new one. Check wiring, battery, rectifier, change carbon brushes, and if all fail, change new starter.

You're not a newbie, you're just modest.

Aiya! Rather not have it, I've change the sensor once already, 3 weeks after riding it, engine check light came on, went back Mah, they say the throttle sensor got problem, replaced a new sensor for me and mine is the 4th bike to have this problem, guess Italians really sucks in electronics. :sian:

What bike are you riding? Yamaha R1?

Just fyi, the Aprilia RS125 does NOT have a throttle position sensor. Throttle slide is cable-actuated.

Jiro, please do yourself a big favour - find the genius who told you that, and burn his bike. Then crack his skull with your helmet.

After you're done killing the b@stard, please make a mental note NEVER to rev your bike before switching the engine off.

Unless, of course, you'd like a shorter lifespan for your engine.

Gentlemen, I have explained MANY MANY times why you should never rev your bike just before switching it off. Please enlighten our friend here.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Err...to what I understand, a fully charged battery should have 12.65~12.75V. And your rectifier/alternator needs to produce a minimum of 13.85V. So by what you said, apparently your rectfier is not charging your batt. On that note, in the video your battery is about 9~10+V of course cannot start lah.:(

DONT REV UR BIKE JUST BEFORE U CUT OFF ENGINE!!!!!

OK... I was a little too late to tell him ur advice...

By revving ur bike just before u cut off the engine, u have allowed the lubrication on the piston to drip off... And allowed excess fuel in... It does help to start your bike easier the next time u start.. But it's bad bad bad habit... Maybe it's okay for big bikes.. But not for ours...

Dun rev the bike just to kill the engine.. If you have to rev the engine to get to neutral do allow about a min or two of rest at least before u cut off the engine..

Lawrence, correct me if i'm wrong..

U mean your batt already 2yrs+? Guess the battery has reached its service already. U should be using a YB9-B batt size. Btw, after you have put in the fresh batt, chk if your charging voltage is above 14V ok? if its less than 13.85V, please have the rectifier check, as it might not be charging enough already.:thumb:

oh.. okay.. noted.. thanks for telling.

but i do not rev and cut off immediately.. what i did rev little like 2-3rpm.. it do show that the voltage went up to 13v+.. then i stop.. 3-4 sec later then cut off.. so.. is what i did was totally wrong and will shorten engine lifespan??

The elusive speedo gear costs $140plus at Ideal(jus checked) and what a surprise, it's out of stock!

Next stop WEDA/FJT.

Just wondering, is the 06 model onward yoke plate available as a spare part at Mah yet? Anyone knows?

Cheers

Lawrence! Monday DIY or not? :p

For Jiro:

2T = Lubricant

Petrol will clean off the lubricant off the wall of your cylinder.

So imagine this..

When you rev your bike before u kill engine, you are pushing petrol into the cylinder.. So the petrol in the cylinder will wash off the lubricant (2T) off the walls.

So what happens then?

No lube and there's a chance the petrol is already compressed and ready to get fired by the spark plug. (this is usually the reason for easy starting the next day).. But what you dont know is that the walls are dry.

So yah.. Dry cylinder wall is damaged when the piston ring scrapes while going down during ignition.

i see... isn't throttling will input 2t too with fuel..??

hmm.. so why is there a absent of 2t in the cylinder?? is dont get it.. enlighten me please.. thanks in advance.

Yes but you know how much 2t goes in?

1 full 2t tank can last u around a mth and a tank of petrol can only last you at an average of 250km.. Which 1 is used up more? :)
