well he got it for around 2.8k, and had spent 1.5k in 3 months replacing the slowly failing parts....

he had piston jams, magnetic coil failing(?), the mesh in his pipe melting thus causing dunno wad valve snap off as the exhaust gas can't get out fast enough, dunno wad control valve(?) melted, and lots of electrical faults... and his bike backfired when starting too...

well he had involved in an accident & had scrapped his 125 & got himself a new s4 heheh. he knew my interest in aprilias & adviced me to brace myself for bike problems, mainly electrical problems & be ready to have a sum of $$$ on standby

on the other hand, a working mate of mine had a rs125 for many yrs liao, not sure got mod or not, having a relatively troublefree life! but he does diy on maintainance himself... he claims his 125 can clock 170+ while my earlier friend oni stuck @140 nia... why is it so?

really really hope can buy from private sellers... but no $ to pay full sum... think most prob buy from bike shops lor... me 24 dis yr... is it possible to buy 3rd party for new riders? heard somewhere new riders die die muz buy 1st party? if buying 3rd party under my name how much it's gonna costs? *thanks!*

shop usually only allow 2rd party insurance ... p-plate 24yr old ard $500 from ntuc for 3rd party .. mitsui and the rest dun accept p-plate aprilians...correct me if i am wrong cos i kena reject by mitsui...mitsui only for non p-plate but quite cheaponly ard $300 for 3rd party....

i now taking all motor insurance test so next time maybe can approach me for cheaper qoutes .... :cheeky: :cheeky: ...

did some reading up and it was recommanded for 2-strokers to repack their pipes every 6 months ....

paid like 35 to repack my shark end can.. another 85 to decarbonise the stomach at Pang's scooter..

after decarbonising, can feel the pipe sound sharper and more unrestrained..

i dunno what does packing helps...

Hi,

This is to thank and update those who have offered to help me with my RS125 'cold start' problem.

When push start failed to fire up the machine, I had no choice but to take the bike to the workshop. I got a tow truck to take the machine to First Motor this morning.

 

The mechanic gave me a new spark plug(ngk), a new battery, new engine oil, washed and clean the carb. Total damage is $130.00. On top of that, I had the suspension changed for $600.00 . So grand total damage is $730.00.

 

Since I got a lot of tips from u guys, now I'm returning some from the mechanic. He said if u r not going to ride the bike for an extended period, do the following:

1. turn off the fuel c***.

2. start the engine and let it run till it dies (purpose is to burnoff the remaining fuel and empty the carb)

3. turn off the engine.

4. lift the fuel tank and disconnect the battery. When removing the wires, always

4a. disconnect the -ve terminal first, then

4b. disconnect the +ve terminal

5. lower the fuel tank and park your bike.

 

When u r back and ready to ride the bike again,

6. lift the fuel tank and reconnect the battery's wires. Always reconnect

6a. the +ve terminal first, then

6b. the -ve terminal.

7. lower the fuel tank

8. turn on the fuel c***.

9. pull the cold start level down.

10. push the start button without turning the throttle.

 

I hope some of u find the tips useful; and if there is error in there, please point it out.
