wah... hear also make my heart pain:weep: my heart really bleed for u bro...:faint:

but ur fairing fell & trashed to pieces & scrathed?...sound very fragile like crystal huh? for me, my fairing drop until my heart numb liao...:giddy:but it had escape with some deep scratches & minor crack only...guess i'm luckier..

so far my fairing had survived (barely) a wheelie fall ( when the stupid bus jam its brakes) , a couple of lost control push start ( heard from lacrimosae somewhere here that aprilian are great push starter, guess i'm not :sian: ), predestrian railing brushes... and praise the lord...i nearly drop my bike when i put it on the side stand too..(when i park my aprilia on this big manhole, the side stand just went through the gaps in between the manhole)...phew:sweat: :giddy:

btw, how much did u bought the fairing at ah boy for? wats the color? wat does it include?is it oringinal?:cheer: ...didn't know ah boy selling aprilia fairing man...

depends...aprilia fuel consumption, good one can be ard 280-320 for full tank (13L), average 220-260, bad below 200.

cost of arrow pipe abt $600... $2200- pipe $600 = $1600 => reasonable price for FQ aprilia...

cost of not going thru the hassle of not fixing ur own arrow pipe & worring that its not approved => priceless

arrow pipe is just a bonus and should be included as a package. watever other mods u did to ur bike should not be considered when it comes to buying unless its really expensive stuff like ohlins?( something that's reallly visual and expensive as i can anyhow just claim that i had big-bored my block, use racing gears etc etc)

also arrow pipe cost only 100 odd.

and u can get cheaper aprilias if u look around patiently. i know that u can get fs plate y2k for abt 3k.

note: a bike that LOOKS goodd visuallly need not necessarily be in good heath and vice versa.

and dun forget that u wil have to fork out your own insurance and transfer etc etc.

i think that if u look around carefully and willing to wait longer, u might just get a good deal.

btw: fixing an arrow is easy and within minutes. i used to think that it's a tedious process also but after learning it from a good fren of mine, i realised that it's very fast and hassle free actually. but then with so many TPs nowadays, u think it's worth it? it's so easy to spot an aprilia with an arrow and worst is we can't run. and those idiots love to stop aprilias.

Bad stuff? What bad stuff?

It's not the bike, it's the rider. Treat her like a princess and she'll give you the ride off your life.

But ya, read the stuff that has already been written earlier. Long, long read, but well worth it.

alright alright jude will try to organise one of that sorts in the near future.. anyway i too hope that kind of meet up is not a once in a year thinky.. if not it'll simply be too boring.. ba

denis, thanks for helping to respond to the msg.. was kinda lazy to reply..

hahhe

anyway, one of the 1st setback ya get when ya wanna get a Aprilia is, all your rider friends will be like "What?? Aprilia??? Problematic leh!!! Get a SP or Kips lah."

other than that, it function exactly just like a normal bikes, parts do get spoilt and ya need to replace.. just that the parts might be a bit costly..

sometimes you might need to learn how to DIY cleaning ya valve if ya own a milo kong Aprilia..

mileage wise, it really varies from your bike setup..

i'm running a 34mm carb with a shark pipe and i clocked a fuel consumption of 1L/18KM. Nicky's bike is able to clock a mileage of 300km/tank. xxes123's bro in law's bike clocked a mileage of 100+/tank (Edwin, don't mind I mention hor??)

if any of ya guys qns is not answered, either ya can run thru the thread or post ya qns here?? (we'll try to answer for ya sake and not get agigtated for answering this kind of stuffs time and again)

Meanwhile, cheer~

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Aprilians,

I am back!!!

Ok, I wont be able to be online everyday, like in the past... coz now business is picking up and have other commitments too....

BUT... I will be lurking around in the forum again. Ready to put to rest any Aprilia-related misconceptions.

Denis,

I found out from the Mito crew that on every outing, at least one Mito has to be push-started... heh heh

To any Mito riders reading this, no offence meant bro.... Last outing on Jan 1 Forum Starbucks, someone had to push start his Mito....

Aprilians are quite seasoned push-starters too... heh But gotta do it right.

When you do a wheelie on the front wheel when stopping, its called a 'stoppie'. When the stoppie goes wrong and you tip over and get launched over the front, its called an 'endo'; when you plant your face flat into the ground, that is called a 'face plant'. hur hur hur...

HMMM,

Lets see... FQ plate Aprilia. 2.2K?

hmmm.....

I think you'd be better off with a stock pipe unless you want to risk getting a $500 fine for the Arrow. 2.2 is a little steep. depends on the bike condition.

- what's the mileage?

- fairings ok?

- engine ok?

- Any overhaul done recently? or engine rebuild? top-block servicing?

- brakes, pump, hoses ok?

- fork, rear shock ok?

- Ever been in an accident, frame still straight?

- Fork still straight?

- Clocks still working - speedometer, odometer, tachometer, digital readout (engine temperature, battery voltage, lap timer) still working?

- footpegs all intact? Bent, cracked?

Drop me a PM or SMS with your name, nick, and problem. If I'm free can meet and go see bike together.

Boydan and HMMM,

Setbacks?

hohohoho...

Yeah, here's one.

Once you buy an Aprilia, you sign up for an apprenticeship.

Essentially, you'll have to learn how to maintain your machine.

AND, you have to RE-LEARN how to ride a bike.

You need to ask yourself, ARE YOU WILLING TO DO THAT?

I've been riding the bike for almost a year, no problems....

Its a 1999 Replica model.

Aprilia is only for people who are willing to put their hearts and minds to learn more about it, not for the weekend boy racers.

Just take a couple of hours a month to clean the powervalve by yourself, change gear oil, wash the carb, etc..... Use good oil and you'll get a long engine life.

I'd say that the money you might spend on a Prilla would be more of a want than a need. The want to go faster, mostly.

Its true that the resale value drops, because typical Singaporeans only want cheap, no maintainence, fast. Hence they get the SP, KRR, TZM. They're really great bikes for road use in SG, because they're cheap, parts are cheap and easy to find, unlike Aprilia, which are slightly more expensive since they have to be shipped from Aprilia, Italy. Uncommon parts could set you back 1-2 weeks bikeless while waiting for the parts to get ordered and sent over.

Also, the cheap bikes dont need much maintainence, which is great for the kind of people who just wants to ride, and not bother to find out how their machine works. They're amazing transportation tools, and its so cheap, considering the speeds you're capable of doing on them.

Hence, few riders actually know how to appreciate an Aprilia. Most people think that once you get a knackered Prilla, you'll be paying thru the nose and there'll be no end to it.

But I've never regretted getting an Aprilia. Its geometry is very different from cheap bikes - how the angle of your arms and body and knees relate to the bike.

Of course, you get what you pay for. Better brakes, better geometry, better handling and stability.

I've ridden SP and KRR before. They're quite satisfactory to learn on. Because they teach you how a bike can drift a lane when crosswinds hit, and how a bike can wobble at 80kmh because its so lightweight, and how cornering can be a really scary thing on a machine as stable as a deck of cards.

Ever since I've converted to Aprilia, I've been sooo pampered by the bike. Its got a lot of 'give'. Stable, yet nimble, not sluggish like a Phantom. Cornerings are a breeze, you could take a hand off the handlebars to pick up change on the road and you'll still be fine.

Mileage is pretty good.

I know someone who gets 300km on 11L of petrol.

I used to get 270km on a full tank.

Every bike varies. Hope you get a superbly tuned machine which will have plenty of power with minimal compromise on mileage.

No offence, guys... I'm a great fan of Honda's engineering and my next bike is an NC35... heh heh

But in the meantime, I still prefer good handling and aesthetics over cheap.

I think Aprilia is evil and no one should buy them. Prillas should be bought only by nuthouses like us....

Berukblue,

Keep it up. I got my 2B on my 3rd try.

If you want, I'll take you as a pillion and let you get a feel of the bike. Maybe you can identify what you're doing wrong too.
