Mah Motors is having a road show at Ngee Ann City this Saturday and Sunday (26th and 27th). They will be showcasing Suzukis, Hondas and Aprilias.

Mah road show

Anyone want to go check it out? And if you do on which day?

They don't specify operating hours but i think if we go in the day should be quite safe? Maybe can go in the morning that way not so hot or crowded?

Such love that one can only have for an Italian Stallion

I'm game to go down either, or even both, days. Any time after 10:30am is good for me.

Hmm... if there are enough of us interested, do you think we could go down officially as the Aprilia Owners' Club? Perhaps Mah would appreciate the visible support, and it would look good for us too.

Those of us who made it down to the funeral ride were given Aprilia polo shirts, and I don't think Mah would mind providing the same type of shirts to the rest of us who don't have them.

Anyone want to liaise with the Mah people? Perhaps call Dylan, the sales manager we met at the funeral ride? If no one free to make the calls, I don't mind doing it, but we need to see how many of us are interested first.

Our involvement could be as basic as just going down as a group wearing Aprilia shirts and hanging around. But personally, I wouldn't even mind answering questions for prospective owners. Can even sign up new members to AOC on the spot. Just some ideas floating around in my head lah, what do the rest of you think?

Muser : I applaud your enthusiasm. but it wont be easy. however i think me and lawrence are more than game enuff.

You're right servo, it definitely won't be easy to set up any kind of formal arrangement with Mah, especially so last minute. We'll have to get a list of names by, say, tomorrow, and then call the Mah people.

Jude, you were the one Mah contacted about the funeral ride, right? Do you have a direct contact with someone you or I could speak to about this? If not, we can just call Dylan.

Er, looks like I'll have to start a list then:

1) muser

2) servoprax

3)

If you add your name to the list, you're signing up for: Going down to the Mah show together as a club. Since people like Denis need a specific time and date to plan, I propose Sat, 11am. Completely open to discussion, of course.

By tomorrow afternoon, if we get 10 names, we'll call Mah, what do you all think?

And of course, if we can't set up anything fancy, we just go down anyway and hang out lah.

On a separate note: I finally have the energy now to post about my interesting Aprilia-related experiences yesterday.

I got lost trying to find Ideal Motors in Ubi yesterday morning, and stopped at a building on Kaki Bukit Ave 1 to consult my street directory.

Just as I was taking off my helmet, a guy came up to me to ask me where I got my single-seater from. I told him I didn't know since my bike's previous owner had it installed, but that I suspect Ideal brought it in. I then mentioned that I hadn't been able to find the shop.

He said he'd take me there and walked to his FX-plate '04 RS125! Looking at his licence plate number, I realised I'd seen him on the road before with his girlfren pillioning; small world. When we arrived at Ideal, we exchanged numbers (his name's Yaz) and I told him I'd let him know about our outings since he said he doesn't get online much.

It was a good feeling to be helped out by a fellow Aprilian who didn't know me, and to make a friend in the process too.

Now on to the second part of my day, which I'm putting in a separate post so it'll be less confusing and easier to find...

Here's a guide to getting an ERP cash card IU installed on an RS125. I found it such a hassle that I'd like to spare someone else the grief. For all I know, this will be old news to many of you, but maybe someone will find it useful.

- Don't go to Ah Boon. He may be a genius Aprilia mechanic, but he doesn't sell IUs.

- All Vicom inspection centres will do it for you for the princely sum of $152.90 (incl 5yr warranty), including installation.

- BUT they only have a generic mounting bracket, which is useless for RS125s and most other sportsbikes.

- So, you can have it stuck somewhere on your windscreen, blocking your speedo, tacho, etc.

- Or, you can go to Seng Kwang Metal Industrial Co, 10 Ang Mo Kio Ind Pk 2A, AMK Autopoint, #05-31, Tel: 64819580. They specialise in fabricating stainless steel motobike parts. They'll fabricate a custom IU bracket on the spot. I paid $60; if you get charged less, pls let me know. Get the IU installed on your bike first (by Vicom or whoever, stuck to your windscreen or somewhere else), and one of the Lee brothers at Seng Kwang will install the bracket and attach the IU for you.

- As far as I know, Ah Boy only sells ready-made IU brackets for common models like Wave, Super 4, etc.

I discovered all the info above the hard way, riding around all of AMK and asking "Do you know where got shop that makes custom IU brackets?" I should have asked the bros on this forum first, but I assumed it would be straightforward. I still find it hard to believe that the ex-owner of my bike didn't install an IU, but I guess he really didn't need it since he rarely rode the bike.

wah....didn't know IU so expensive, i got a spare one, anybody wan, i can sell cheap cheap...

regarding the single seater, First Motor do custom fabricate one-seater for aprilia. As for Mah Motor, i think they have them in stock too... :cheeky:

I wouldn't be surprised if the others can find better prices for IUs, but I was so tired and fed up at that point that I didn't even bother to shop around, and just said "do it!"

Haiz, should really have asked you guys first, then could've gotten yours Denis.

Thanks for the info about one-seaters, definitely good to know. Any idea roughly how much it would cost? So I can tell Yaz.

Wah, your posting style very efficient and space-saving now Denis, hurhurhur.
