Just thinking aloud, i had always assumed that for the exhaust system a bigger stomach doesn't really mean more power. In fact a smaller system would utilise pressure build up better forcing more uncombusted fuel back in? Anyone can clear this up for me?

An FX plate shouldn't really have a huge mileage... Personally, i'd try and determine if the bike's had a bad fall before. Tell-tale signs are cracked or bent foot-pegs, the obvious scrapped fairings, check the front forks for any oil leakage or corrosion, check for any leakage wjich could be another sign of a dropped bike. Be suspicious of a new paint job which could be a cover-up ruse... Is always good to see if the bike starts well. i.e to say on the first time... Make sure you don't start it straight away though... sometimes the seller might have warmed up the bike before showing it to the buyer and a warmed up bike starts faster and easier. So take your time to inspect the bike, and talk to the seller first. Let the bike cool down. Dosen't hurt to check the tires for severe gashes. this will give you an idea of how hard the previous owner was pushing the bike and again might offer a tell-tale sign of a dropped bike. Is good to go with someone who has had a bike for a while as he or she will be in a better position to advise if the engine sounds strange, personally, i can't tell if an engine is good by listening, but i'm sure some of the more experienced bikers can tell you a bit about the bike just by listening to it and feeling for bad vibrations during throttlle opening. bring an experienced biker with you to check it out! hope this has helped!

Thanks Kink!!!:thumb:

Juz wondering, how do i determine if there's an oil leakage on the bike??? can see the stain marks there isit??i quite new at this, so abit gundu r...:sorry:

Posted

Hahah! Ya you should be able to see stains along the underside of the bike sometimes even on the footpegs or sidestand i think. Let the guys know when and where you are going to view the bike, most of the guys quite on to see bikes, and their expertise is invaluable... Maybe some of them might volunteer to help you out

hahah! for jammed valve you should check with muser he just had his sorted... Chris! Info share share!

But i suppose if you really wanted to check... can get your hands dirty by opening up the valve housing to see if the valve slides freely in and out of the slot...

1stly, i think ur lobang quite questionable.. cos FX is only 1 year at most.. den do u think someone buying a bike at 12k will sell u 2.5-3k after 1 year? i don think so.. tt time i also got a lobang bout 1 year ago selling fw plate at 3.5k.. in the end i saw milo kong... its a year 2000 bike... some pple change the no. plate only den u mistook it for new bike... see whether is it the small pipe plus check the log card... k? hee... juz a piece of advice since i met wif something like tt b4....

for a jammed valve, the sound will be different. unjammed valves will have a 'tick tick' sound. try listening to the engine sound. another way will be ur 'feeling' of the bike when u ride. if its not smooth, the valve opening like u first cleaned ur valve, then high possibility that jammed. wat i mean by feeling is not a sudden burst of speed at the valve opening but a gradual one. aiya u can feel it one la.. haha

hi hi.. i dunno if u r riding a rs250 but its different cleaning 125 n 250 valves. 250 very tedious. better to send to mechanic. coz not as easy as 125. rs125 just take out fairing n start unjamming valve. 250 more diff and very very little space to work with. wat u can do is 'periodic maintenance' of the valve by always adding petrol to it to add some lubraication?? i seen a fren doing that. he did say that it helped. anyway i think its easier to save the trouble and send it to a mechanic.

if i not wrong, use the stomach definitely can feel the difference as compared to the muffler. as always, u can hit red line and also valve open faster. as for piston jam, u not the only owner for the bike rite? so bound to experience a piston jam sometime. why not now?? haha.. btw once kena jam sure phobia then next time dun whack the bike lo. sure nothing to worry abt. or use stock pipes instead?? wont cause u to hit that red line!! hehe.. and i think 2t should solve the piston problem la. i just think that u r unlucky that the piston died under ur care(cause i am bloody sure that prev owners whack n whack n whack then sold it to u)
