Obviously instalment nids 2 b carried on...no 1 will go sell a 12k bike for 2.5 to 3k la bro...somemore '04 prilia is still new...so i think its a very gd deal...

i heard RS pipe has better low-mid range torque, compared to arrow which is only top end torque. It's like a milo kong and a arrow come together.... anw in singapore roads, faster acceleration is better.

Hi guys! I just wanna ask a few things about the RS125.

1. Why are there so many cases of Piston jams? Is it because ppl whack the bike?

2. Is it a common problem for the radiator to leak?

3. Will installing a new arrow pipe on an Extrema lower the mileage?

(Also, if anyone has a good KT on where to get an RS125 in good condition, 2nd hand, pls msg me? I'm looking out for one too! I wanna be an aprilian! hehe)

Just thinking aloud, i had always assumed that for the exhaust system a bigger stomach doesn't really mean more power. In fact a smaller system would utilise pressure build up better forcing more uncombusted fuel back in? Anyone can clear this up for me? [/b]

My limited understanding is that larger manifolds/stomachs produce more high-end power but suffer in the low-to-mid range. I think your analysis is correct: smaller stomachs build up pressure faster - but reach their limit faster. When operating at higher revs, larger stomachs allow a larger peak flow of exhaust gases, therefore ultimately making more power.

been riding a RS125 for a few months now. Problem is, I don't get to ride it that regularly, and most times,, when I do want to take it out, it requires a push start.

Almost all machines with moving parts - from bikes to PCs - need to be regularly used to keep them working well. Perhaps it's simply not possible or practical for you to ride your Prillla more often, but bear in mind that you're also running an increased risk of rust and congealed lubricant. A new battery may only be a temporary fix. Come out with us and ride more lah!

I sincerely hope that your lobang is real - bring people to check it out with you and if it's good, snap it up. But too often in my experience, if something sounds too good to be real, it usually isn't real. A bunch of clean FX Prillas should go with you as a standard of what FX RS125s should look and sound like.

Hi guy. I just wanna answer your questions about the RS125.

1. Why are there so many cases of Piston jams? Is it because ppl whack the bike?

No. No. NO. 'So many' relative to what? SP? KRR? TZM? What do you mean by the term 'so many'? How many is many? How many Aprilians do you know personally who has had a piston jam?

Piston jams are common for every other bike. SP, KRR, TZM - they have piston jams too, along with every other problem that we Aprilians face. The only difference is, while their problem is cheap and quick to fix, ours may be a little costlier and take longer to fix. This, of course, will never be understood by the regular Ah Beng, whose intellectual level of all combined Bengs in SG are equivalent to a packet of peanuts. All they know how to b!tch about is, "I paid more, I expect this to last"

Doesnt mean you pay $60,000 for an MV means its NEVER going to need a servicing. It just means you ought to be prepared to pay for parts and servicing which are 10 times the price Japanese bikes.

Please read through the other pages on the differences between cheap Thailand junk bikes like the SP, KRR, and TZM. Thanks. I think everyone here wont want me to go into that all over again. This is one poor horse that has been flogged over and over and over and over and over...... (damned horse is already ripped to shreds and buried, still its grave is desecrated)

Aprilias are built to, in your words, be 'whacked'. Whether you 'whack' it or not does not determine how soon you get a piston jam. If you DO NOT take care of the bike, feed her CHEAP 2T, cut down on regular servicing, THEN I GUARANTEE YOU, PISTON JAM IS IN YOUR NEAR FUTURE. And I dont even need to be a psychic to tell you that.

2. Is it a common problem for the radiator to leak?

No.

3. Will installing a new arrow pipe on an Extrema lower the mileage?

No.

As proven by Servoprax and xxes123, with the right tuning, you can even get better mileage while pushing more horses.

Glad to know you're interested in the bike. I have to warn you, though, once you get an Aprilia, you sign up for apprenticeship. There will be no end to learning, mods, late night suppers, and crazy rounding sessions.

Most people say they want an Aprilia, but sadly, never have the courage to get it. Once they know Aprilias run on passion, they become girls and get an SP.

Oh by the way, I have a question of my own for you.

What is a KT?

Thanks.

I always see Malaysian-plates RS250s in Ideal Motors over here in Singapore....

Wouldnt know abt good places to do RS250 in MY. We could hook you up to the Malaysian Aprilia riders, if you dont know them already.

Filbert,

Inside her lives an Italian heart and that's all that matters. Words are only words. They cant hurt anyone.

Oooor, I see  , then forget my comment about there being only one valve then. The rest of the symptoms should probably still apply though.

BTW (By the way), KT (kang tao, as filbert said) is, you know lah, useful connections that can facilitate a particular need.

About Italian vs Thai quality: In the past, many Italian machines have been inferior in quality control/reliability compared to other countries. It used to be accepted, for instance, that when one bought a Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari (the founder of the company) would sell you the engine and throw in the rest of the car for free.

Nowadays, quality control is evening up internationally, probably because everyone's had to adopt Japanese manufacturing methods or risk falling behind.

But old reputations are hard to shake. People have to realise that, just as Japanese cars used to be synonymous with cheap rubbish (legend has it that you could scratch off the paint and find milo tin metal underneath, complete with the words still there, hehe), Italian products aren't what they used to be.

Ferraris (Ferrari is now owned by Fiat) are reputedly good enough to be driven daily nowadays, and Aprilias are good as anything else out there.

i tink my prob experience is that my valve is opening late .

it will open but some times at 7 k rpm sometime around 8k rpm

n before the valve open can feel that its struggeling to open ...

anewae yestnite open up my valve n checked ...

apart for the gross accumulation of disgusting black unburnted 2t ,

all otherparts r moving as they should .

Pv cables r also inline with the marking ..

anione noes wat could be the prob ???

btw warren84 i tink u got a bike like mine

totally RUINED when i got it !!!

u gonna need sometime to get it running in tiptop condition

but i tell u its definatly worth it

But be prepare to spend a bomb ,

i tink u should send it for a overhual , change crankshaft , new piston sets

, inspect yr carbs, rejet yr bike, check yr body wiring ,

service yr shocks, change reed valves, gd 2t , gd engine oil,

bleed yr brakes, change brake pad.

older rs250 shocks will gives u alot of probs

hope yr shock chrome tube still gd n not worn out .

by the time u done all these i tinku gonna be broke lol !!!!
